I was up at the crack of dawn this morning...

Listening for Turkeys. I don`t have a whole lot of Farm land to hunt so I don`t get to scout fields for Turkeys so I go and listen for them. No calls just listen. I map where he goes from fly down till he stops singing. I always try to find a half dozen or so Gobblers and spend a preseason morning listening to them and trying to find out where they head from the roost.I then go back mid day or later and throw up some kind of natural blinds in a couple of places the direction each bird went.Sounds crazy but it has worked for me for years. This is on A couple of my Uncles places. My public land hunt is done about the same.
This morning I was able to track three different birds and actually got to see all three and did`nt spook a one.Sweet thing is everyone did exactly what I thought they would do.Long Story short if it were Turkey season this morning I would have got three shots.I had 4 Jakes at 8 steps that walked by purring. This leafy suit I got works.
Now the Bear story...I got the "pass around" Bear in the mail this week and carried it this morning on my adventure . Shot a few stumps and we spent a very enjoyable morning together. Kinda sad because I am too ruff on a bow and this bow is too purty. I could never hunt with it for fear of messing it up.I kill a lot of snakes with my longbows and do it without shooting them..lol.
Heres a few pics. I started to take a pic of the jakes but I did`nt want to chance spooking anything with movement. I did get some lean to blinds made and hope for a gaffed swamp Rooster in a few weeks.RC

Had to cross a "bridge" to get to the sweet spot. No toll here unless you fall in...

Ran across this lazy fella. Spreading Adder. Some folks call them hognosed snakes. He ain`t poison but will put on a heck of a bluff for ya...
I picked at him a minute and he "cobra`d" out for me...

Pick a bit more and he rolls over and plays possum. No I did`nt kill him he really is playing dead. Continued in a few weeks with ....Broadheads.RC
Forgot the playing dead photo..

Sounds like a great morning. Good luck! Will you get to keep the bear long enough to try for your turkey with i, or will it be onto the next person in line before then?

I`ll send it to the next feller. I`m partial to longbows for hunting and this bow really is too purty for me to hunt with.I was afraid I would scratch it just scouting.
I got a Hill bow for those Swamp Roosters.RC
