I was tuning my new Blacktail recurve last night. The nock point was set at 5/8". The shelf was showing a little wear on the outside edge. I bareshafted some new arrows. They were nock high. So, I raised the nock point to 3/4" and still a little nock high but the fletched arrows where flying better. Should I go up higher with the nock until they don't show nock high? I started out going down on the nock point and it got worse so I went up and got better bareshaft flight. But higher than 3/4"? Is this not uncommon? Seems high to me.....?

I forgot to say it is a center cut 55#@28" recurve. I am shooting 3 under. The fletched arrows are flying good at 20 yds. I don't have anywhere to try out at further distances until I can get out in the woods.

My knock point is 3/4" high. Try a touch more if you are not happy with the flight. You can always go back down if you have to. If you can live with the flight as is? ... Then leave it.

Your arro maybe a little too stiff.

I may be wrong, but I did the same thing, I was getting nock high, with some CX250s. I lowered the nock point to get the arrows bareshafting with better flight..

3 under normally requires a higher nocking point escp. if it is not tillered for 3 under. What spine ya shooitng out of the bow. If ya draw 28"s and shoot a 29" arrow ya need a spine around 75#s. Shawn

Mine is 7/8 it's what works best for me.....

Shawn hit the nail on the head.

The nock on most all of my bows is 9/16" and is the best for me, now I normally shoot 5/16" Alaskan Forgewoods and place the arrow under the nock set. I have found that if I shoot a 11/32" arrow I have to place the arrow above the nock set to get perfect flight.

The arrows are 11/32" 75-79#. The Blacktail is made for 3 under. That's interesting Danny. I thought the arrow would move on you if you nocked above the nock set.
