Has anyone ever tried to add color to fletching that is on the shaft of an arrow? I am looking to add a black cap to my cock feather to identify it as I only had yellow when I made this set.
Thanks

Take a black sharpie and make the cock vane barred
By using a brown and black sharpie you can come close to a real barred feather. Several years ago I made some that were hard to detect, and better than the artificially barred ones. The time to do it is a little prohibitive.
HUH. a black sharpie. I would have never guessed it would be so low tech. after reading the feather dying link in the D.I.Y. section I was a little skeptical if it could be done. I will try it tonight.
Thanks Sheppard and 2Fletch
Just barred some Red and Yellow shield cuts with a black sharpie works great!
Yep, sharpies and Fiebing's leather dye!
Try it out on an old arrow, and see what you like or come up with.
SHARPIES ALWAYS WORKS FOR ME...
Will the sharpies come off in the rain or if your hands are sweaty.
No, that's why they call them permanent markers.
Sharpies work but will slowly fade but just touch them up.
