Title: Watching Essential Encounters
Post by: Steve O on March 04, 2011, 08:33:00 AM
I posted this on the other EE thread, but figured it would be better to start a new one rather than sifting thru 6 pages of "when will it get here"      :)

Let's here what you saw, here are my thoughts:

Quote
My wife is out of town so the kids and I had "movie night" last night. My 12 yo son and 10 yo daughter were mesmerized for two solid hours!

It is amazing to me how they blend all those fantasic animals, both trophy and unique, along with the spectacular scenery and music to tell the story of the hunt that matches our (the true hunter watching) heartfelt love of the outdoors. Watching it for the second time, I noticed the deer were walking or running with the beat of the music and sometimes the small game animals or deer in the background of the featured animal were showing the "emotion" we as humans would portray. My kids could not get enough of the bears fishing and "rocking out" to the music.

And EVERY word from the narrator said EXACTLY how I feel about bowhunting.

I am so proud of the "Brothers of the Bow". Gene, Barry, Mike, David, and even Mark      :p    , thank you for giving us something that we can confidently hand to anyone in the world and say, "this is why I bowhunt, this is what bowhunting IS!"

This video is indeed a must watch for the family. It got my wife to stop reading and just watch. Unmatched footage of wildlife. It was a little like watching Planet Earth, with the occasional animal exiting rather quickly carrying some fletch!

It does a great job of portraying why I hunt and love for the outdoors and creation.

Couln't say it any better myself than is laid out in this film.

Well, the dvd was fine! The scratches didn't seem to hurt it any. All I can say is WOW! The Wensel and Mitten brother's done an outstanding job. I can't say enough good thing's about it. Me and my 12 year old son watched the entire movie without a potty break  :D . Job well done!

It is without a doubt one of the BEST investments that you would ever make, and if you don't already own "Primal Dreams".....it would be a very good investment also. These two films, put together by people that truly "walk the talk" are destined to be classics that will continue to be watched by generations yet to come.

Yep.......they are BOTH.......that good !!!! I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right and the quality of video and narration in these videos are spot on. Sometimes when Gene is speaking........he can reach right into our hearts and minds and pull out the thoughts and feelings so well that it's almost scary.

Congratulations on another "home run" brought to us by Gene, Barry, Mike, Mark and David.....YOU guys ROCK !!!   :clapper:    :clapper:    :clapper:

Post by: Ron LaClair on March 05, 2011, 06:11:00 PM
My copy of "Essential Encounters" arrived. After lunch I took the time to watch it in it's entirety. It is a two disk production and I started with the Bonus Features on one disk which were very informative and entertaining.

The main feature will keep you riveted to your seat. I did pause it at one point while I made some popcorn and then right back into it. There are scenes that a normal man would never see in a lifetime in the outdoors. Bucks that will take your breath away and leave you with your mouth hanging open.

Past, present and future generations are represented in this production, blended into a wonderful journey into the world of predators and prey. It will touch your heart and at times choke you with emotion.

Essential Encounters definitely "IS" essential for every outdoor minded person. You will come away with a better understanding of yourself and your love for the outdoors.

Thank you Mittens and Wensels for another out of the park home run.

My case was busted up too, but the dvd's were not hurt.

I just finished watching it !
It is as good or maybe better than Primal Dreams 1, that is unbelievable, not many movies (if any) is the next release as good as the first, and these guys set the bar very high on Primal Dreams 1, I didn't think they could meet them lofty standards again, but they sure did !

As was said before, they somehow capture our feelings and emotions and put it into a movie, put my name on the waiting list for Primal Dreams 3 !

The above words taken from Ron LaClairs quote pretty much sum up my thoughts after watching it for the first time last night.Primal Dreams was good.Essential Encounters is better.Truly an amazing production that shows nature, wildlife and hunting in a very positive way.Gene,Barry,Mike,etc. truly an outstanding effort on your part.

I tell ya what, Mittens/Wensels and co. did one heck of a job!  Very, very cool.

I know how Gene manages to kill the big ones now. He sings to them to calm them into a trance before thumping them. Barry yodels at them and kills them with his bad breath.
Great movie! Another grand slam right out of the park. Whitey's (David Mitten)kids are pretty cute too. Outstanding movie!!
