I finally talked the cute blond in the mini skirt into going on a date with me. Not much of a date, (went with me to watch me bowl in a league) but a date that her parents let her go on anyway. Since bowling wasn't until 9 p.m. ther was just enough time for the two of us to go set in a ground blind and see if the deer would show in the clover field!
I had to set her about 15 yds. away behind a large rock and of course out come the deer! I couldn't believe I was going to get a shot and with my new girl watching besides!
As the lead doe came in at a mere 40 yds. I drew the 45# recurve back and let fly. Crack! The deer hit the ground! I bailed out of my hiding place went to the deer, finished it off, ran back to my girl gave her a big hug & kiss and....I can't believe that was 41 yrs. ago!!! I still give her that big hug and kiss everytime I make another kill with my bow to this very day!
That's just awesome Longbowman!!! Congratulations!!
I have a feeling that she gets hugged and kissed more frequently than just when you make a kill though or else she'd be spending her time with someone else...lol
I am very happy for the both of you!
Have a good and Godly day!
God bless,Mudd
PS: I don't think I could have made my 6,000th post on a better thread.
That is my kinda date!!!

Good story and better ending. Best of luck to you but obviously you know the important things in life. Family and hunting.
I know how you fill, My wife and I first date we went fishing. That was 45 years ago.
Whew!
I thought she was gonna run off screaming, Frank!
You sure did find The One!
Killdeer :wavey:
Thats a geat story and ending.Way to go.
The only thing that could make that story better is if she had whipped-out her own knife and field-dressed the deer then helped drag her out. :bigsmyl:
Thats awesome! I have had some very wonderful moments in the field with my wife too.
Awesome story for sure... it always adds a little something extra when you bring a special person to the woods with you be it a friend, girlfriend, or a kid who wants a chance!
Did she help clean it?? he he he,,,,great story!!
Great! Closest I can come to that was telling aI girl I had a date to a formal with that I was going to be hunting that day and if I had hit or killed a deer I might be a little late. She called back an hour later to let me know her cousin had just called and would be in town, so she was going to go with him. Ah well. It was one of the most memorable days of hunting I ever had, so it was worth it.
Bet it feels like yesterday....nice story,
That's cool!! My dates never went that good!LOL
Right then you knew you had found the one...
Great story
we must raise em right in our area cause mine, loved to go on long walks along country roads. she thought it was romantic. i was trying to roost gobblers.
Great story! You got a good'un.
I was dating this cute blonde in college, and was frustrated with school keeping me from bowhunting. Had gone several times in Tuskeegee Nat Forest near Auburn during the quarter, but hadn't seen squat. After an all-nighter and final exams, I hit the woods...got settled in under a big cedar beside a fallow green field, but fell asleep. Woke up just at dusk, shook myself awake and was staring at 2 ears and a nose looking at me. A Deer! I was way out of position, but slowly got there and drew on her, and Miiiiiisssssseeeeddd. Relaying the events to her back on campus, she said she'd prayed that I would see a deer, but not kill it! Well, her prayers were answered and so were mine in a Godly wife. Now, I don't let her pray for my hunting anymore :) Been happily married 20 years.
Thats cool.Thanks for sharing!!
Yea, she's been the perfect mate! She not only watched me bowkill my first deer she watched me bowkill my first mulie and watched me stalk and kill my first bear with a bow! After 25 yrs. of helping me drag she left a catalog open on the couch with a picture of a deer cart circled!
For sure you are a lucky man!
They don't make them like that any more.
Q: When's the best time to kiss your wife?????
A: Before somebody else does!!!!
Just wonderful and what appropriote homage you are paying to both your wife and the harveted game.
Can't wait to share this story with my wife.
Boy I didn't know where that one was going for awhile! It's tough enough to concentrate on the spot but have a girl friend in a mini skirt next to ya. Wow! :nono:
