I have been having some of the shafts (carbon) that the wrap begins to come loose. Can anybody enlighten me on what may be going on. Thanks...Dave
I use Onestringer brand wraps on all my carbons, very high quality wraps. Then I use some 000 steel wool, just a quick rubdown, then wipe with some acetone on a rag. Let it dry for a few minutes, then wrap. Never had one come loose yet.
I have had a couple come loose in past.What I do now is wipe the shaft clean with alcohol and take a damp towel(with water)and wipe the wraps.I like to make sure everything is clean and dry before putting the wraps on.Another thing I do now is after I put on the wraps I'll let them sit a day before I fletch them.Haven't had the problem any more.The times I've had this problem was fletching right after putting on the wraps.Still not exactly sure why but this is how I wrap them now.
I use one stringers cap wraps. Never had one come off, in fact I have trouble taking them off when I want to get them off.
I also use steel wool and then alcohol,I never had them come loose even the cheap ones.One stringers are some of the best I have used.
Dave, the only thing I can enlighten you on is that,......you must not be using Onestringer's wraps! They are the best. Put'em on and forget'em! I've never had even one of they're wraps come loose at all on my Beman MFX Classics. :thumbsup:
What type of shafts? Carbon express still have a coating of mould release on them and nothing sticks without cleaning first! Denatured alcohol will do the trick everytime. Then use quality wraps such as onestringer.

Thanks guys, I am having a problem on GT traditional s. I clean the shaft, but the problem has been the wrap sticking to itself when rolled around. I did not think to clean the wrap, maybe that is what is going on. I will try the one stringers, but I have a bunch that I do not recall were I got. They do not all do it so it may be the cleaning the wrap. I also wrap and fletch, maybe I need to wait as JRY39 suggests. I do appreciate the info...Dave
Ive never had an issue ..but I have never used carbon arrows.
I would suggest two things, one you probably did.
1. Clean well with acetone
2. after rolling the wrap on, heat set it.
Take a hair dryer and heat the wrap area and rub firmly.
The heat loosens the glue and it will adhere better.
This is also the best way to remove them.
Dont get the hair dryer to close to the shaft and keep it moving.
Let cool then fletch
At this point in my life I have a few hair dryers I have no other use for.
