Title: Blood tracking legal in Iowa
Post by: Shaun on March 01, 2011, 08:09:00 PM
I have been informed that the 2011 hunting regulations in Iowa will list a change in our laws allowing on-lead blood tracking of wounded deer with trained dogs. I was told this by a LEO that I have known for some time. Also, the website for United Blood Trackers now shows Iowa as a green (tracking legal) state.

Good news for bow hunters here in the Hawkeye state and my 6 month old Graetsche!

Nice looking dog. We have the same rule in Ohio. My bowhunting buddy has a Wirehaired Dachshund. We have used her the last 3 yrs for tracking deer. She is very good. You will have a great time with your tracking dog!!!! Have fun!

Thats good news! Here in WV it's still illegal. Thats the best thing about living in WV when the rapture comes we still have 20 years to get ready! With that said there's nothing that says that I can't take my dog for a walk especially on a 20' leash!

Cool tracking blood trails with dogs is a blast and a great way to find more deer that you might not find otherwise.

Good news, Shaun!  Oskar will be riding to Iowa this fall with his tracking collar.

Hey, wanted to tell you, Graetsche's mommy passed the 40 hour German blood tracking test with 1st prize and overall hunt prize a couple weeks ago.  The genes and breeding hold true!

We're planning the 20 hour test with Oskar in September.

Wow!  That's cool.  I got to see some real good bloodtrailing dogs at work pig hunting last week.

One thing I learned is that if the pig is still walking around the dog probably won't find it.  LOL
