Curt has an awesome thread goin, and i dont wanna take any of his thunder(or even attempt to)! Ok, we all know where a turkeys vitals are, and how small they are! It only makes sense to shoot as large as head as possible, as anyone who has hunted turkeys knows they rarely stand still for long and the chances of being off the mark by 2" is a reality! I know alot of bowhunters, me included who like the larger, steroid size broadheads for turkeys, snuffers, magnusI, simmons sharks, for their cutting swaths! Any head will do, but it almost seems foolish to shoot the narrower style heads like stos or grizzly! I like a head that cuts at least 1 1/4", but thats just me, what do the rest of you prefer?
The only turkey I've taken with my longbow has been with a Sasquatch head....and I was thankful for all that width even on a Texas heart shot.
Deadheads , Simmons Interceptor. Haven't connected with the Tip yet. But confident if I do my part they'll do theirs :archer2:

I wish i could get a hold of some deadheads, they look like spear points!
160 grain snuffers.....though this year I will be shooting 175 grain VPA Terminators
David
That one piece Tip is so ugly Mike. When you gonna let me take it off your hands?
I bought a whole bunch of Dead heads off of the auction site a few years back. They are real nice, but I still prefer a Zwicky Delta 4 blade.
God Bless,
Nathan
I will be using the Ace Express 165 for all my endeavors this year! Itll be my first turkey hunt with a 2 blade, im not too worried though! In the past ive had great success with the Zwickey Delta 4 blade and the 160 Snuffer, both throw turkeys for loop!
Shot my last turkey with the old Bear razorhead with the bleeder blade installed. He only went about 15 yards.
Snuffers make big holes!
Big Jim 'Big 3' ..1.5".. 3 Blade... 300 gns
While it has only an ~3% higher slash factor than the the large snuffers, an easy 400 gns up front was necessary for me to meet my objective for my desired arrow design. The Big 3's fly wonderfully. Should be powerful turkey medicine.
Reference 'Back from Magersfontein in RSA' in the Dangereous Game forum to gather some insite w/regards to the lethality and big holes the Big 3 delivers.
Note: Snuffers have also served me well in the past. Just from my observation... By switching to the Big 3's- there is no more whistle, seemingly better flight and more penetration. The snuffers consistantly averaged over 1.0" less penetration when using my 18 in 1 Rhinehart. I attribute lower pentration do to the foam hanging up in the vents. The vents typically have to be cleared and often times there are big chunks wedged-in. This observation implies to me that vented blades could impede penetration loss in game in certain situations.
Like my 160 grain Snuffers for turkeys.
I'll second Huntrdfk having good results with Snuffers. Todd
160 grain Snuffers, can make a bad shot a good shot. Good luck TERM
is anyone gonna use one of the big head choppers?? I plan on using Magnus bullheads and simmons tree sharks. Head shots only
I use snuffers or Bullheads. With the bullhead they go down on the spot so far.
Why come I never see anybody talking about the Montec G5 three bladers? Pretty nice head, if you ask me.
This will be my first year chasing turkeys with the longbow. I'll use the same heads that I use on whitetails, 160gr snuffers.
I used the muzzy phantom four blade when I took my merriam at Fred Eichlers place. The bird jumped up in the air and came down dead. Lee, the guide said that was the quickest kill he had seen with a bow. The 4 blade phamtom sure has a lot of cutting area and I was glade I used it.
Tom,
A moment of INSANITY that one slipped away :knothead: Still have another onepiece.
I'll add Bear Razorheads to my list.
Would love to see Muzzy make the Phantom in a glue on
160 Snuffers and VP Terminators.
Mike,
Tell me you didn't sell the Tip that you had at ETAR two years ago!
Doug
Ive killed them with Magnas I's and Razorcaps, but today I got some heads from Big Jim. The 300gn 3 blades. I'm thinking these will be on my arrow for a while. DB

My Sitka Spruce arrows will be tipped with these...

Large 160 gr Snuffers....
G5 Striker Magnum 125 grain, 1.5 inch cut fixed three blade.
Does the trick every time. Thinking of adding some insert weight to bump it up a bit, but have not found that I need it yet. As most, I like to play around with gear.
I have had horrible luck with Montec heads. On turkeys they should be OK, but on big game, they break at the threads A LOT! I have had it happen on deer 2 times...so I quit using them. They are some sort of funny steel that breaks a whole lot easier than machined solid steel. Their small game points break all the time too. I quit using their brand because of it. Just my experience and opinion.
I'll add another for 160 gr. snuffers.
Turkies are tough. Only 160 Snuffers for me.
TNP broadheads for my gobs!

Did a little cutting and grinding on a Herters-Ram MX. All I need is a turkey !
With a insert it still weighs over 180gr.

Snuffer for me!
vpa 200 grain
Turkeys are the only animal for which I use a 3-blade. I bought a bunch of Bodkin "seconds" some years ago, and I like the way they tune and fly. I have killed 3 turkeys with them and see no reason to change.
I've had good luck with my Woodsman Elites....DB
first turkey hunt, made a special arrow, its a snuffer, lets hope i dont miss.
beast broadhead man
Simmons for me.LCH
I'm going to try the simmons treeshark 190 grain, be my first year using this broadhead, or tradgear for that matter!
Simmons,MagnusI,Muzzy Phantom and snuffer all have worked for me but I prefer the Big Simmons.RC
A buddy told me ( big time turkey hunter ) it was better to use a broadhead like a muzzy with a trocar tip instead of a cut on contact head . The thought being that the more blunt 3 blade head would give more shock and knock down power than the cut on contact would . He kills alot of turkeys evey year so I welcome his advice .
