Title: eco dipper (with pics)...and more added.
Post by: ti-guy on March 01, 2011, 09:27:00 AM
Works well. The pressure from the gasket is enough to flip a 946ml can,so I've build up something easy and cheap to hold it so you can work free hand:A scrap piece of plywood, plumbing pipe strap, plumbing pipe collar.                       (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb324/guygagne/IMG_0634.jpg)                               (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb324/guygagne/IMG_0636.jpg)                               (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb324/guygagne/IMG_0635.jpg)

First you dip the tip of the shaft and pass it through the gasket. It leaves an extra thin layer.Fast dry, easy set up,clean and simple, love it!

So enough sealant gets put on the end that's dipped for the gasket to spread it thinly along the whole length of the shaft?

the real beauty of the eco-dipper is doing opaque cap colors without the need for dip tubes.

It seems a very flexible tool, though if you wanted to let a coat soak in, it probably wouldn't be ideal except for removal of the excess.

Like you've noticed the first 6 will be natural but I intend to cap the end of the other 6 like Rob mentioned.

how many coats does it take to seal a shaft when they are that thinly applied?

So far this was my 3rd layer,I lightly sand them with a 250 sand paper between each coat,I'll check them tonite.

Rob, can you elaborate on the opaque cap colors?

Thanks,

Ok,I've put a fourth layer last night and it's fine EXCEPT for tha last 4 inches of the shaft where the lacquer is almost all wiped out.I've just send a email to eco dipper and now waiting for an answer. I was passing the shaft both ways, the middle of the shaft is perfect.Next step,I will end cap the other 6 shafts with white paint and take pics, to be continued...
