It took a little longer than expected, but my taxidermist finally got my mount done. I already had a full body mounted fox from a few years ago, so I decided to do something a little different with this one.
Here is a "before" and "after" pic. My 6 year old son has already claimed it for his room!

He looks alive!
Whoever did that does great work!
Looks like it was worth the wait  !!
That looks good Alan, my deep freezer went out with my red fox in it so instead of a pretty mount i got a pile of rotten fur.
Thanks guys, I am lucky to have a good friend who happens to be one of the best taxidermists in our area.
Preston that's a bummer about your freezer. Hope to see you at a shoot this summer!
Man Thats an awesome job. Your friend does great work.
Great Mount!
Nice looking mount Allen- I had a very nice pelt of a large red, came home one day and my dogs had decided to play with it. %&&*&(**& bad dogs.
Bill
Congrats looks like it was worth the wait!!
Great looking mount Allen.
:clapper: Perfect!
Very cool :clapper:
I saw this mount a few weeks ago at the taxidermist's shop. The picture does not do justice. I'd never seen a pedestal mount with a fox before this. I love it!
Allen: I like the way the Taxidermist did a pedestal mount, very unique. Nice looking Fox, great shooting, enjoy.
Now that is very unique, well done.
Nice.
Thats a great looking mount, well done indeed.
Fantastic. It looks alive.

Good looking mount! Any chance we could get the story that goes with it???
I've got a red fox that lives behind my home on our 3.5 acres, and the adjacent 8 acres which altogether I hunt (about 11 acres). I have had him come into range on 2 separate occasions. Couldn't bring myself to kill him or her either time. Almost like he is part of the neighborhood or something. HA
Anyhow, your mount looks amazing. Son is a lucky guy. I'd prolly use my 20 month old's favorite word and say "Mine!".
That looks great. Your friend is an artist and sure does some nice work.
Very nice Allen!
Great looking Mount!

The story is pretty simple actually. It was the first afternoon of bow season '09. I was set up fairly early so I took off my tab and started reading a book. I just happened to look down and this fox was about 8 yards below my stand intently smelling where I had walked in (I had sprayed some fox urine on my boots as cover scent).
He was so intent on the smell, that I was able to put down my book, put on my tab, pick up my bow and shoot him. He never once looked up at me. The shot was perfect and the arrow pinned him to the ground.
Since it was so early, I climbed down and carried him about 60 yards to the edge of the field.
Just before dark I had a nice fat 5 pt bock come by and I killed him also, with a 15 yard shot. Turned out to be a pretty good day! :archer:
Great looking mount!
One thing is for certain, you "picked a spot" when you shot. I`m betting the arrow hit EXACTLY where you were looking!
I wanted to share this but didn't want to highjack your thread Allen, but can't stand it anymore. I have a friend that shot a black coyote last year and just got it back this winter as well. Its a very similar mount. Not a trad kill so mods chop away if necessary. Just thought I would share it as it is an amazing animal. What a trophy.

Great fox mount. Very realistic
TJ, that is an awesome coyote mount! That critter on the wall behind it must be hard to find in Kentucky these days! Do they have a special season for those?! :biglaugh:

Season is very short and the bag limit in one every 10,000 years Allen. They call him "Rex". Go figure.
:clapper:
My son Evan was very intrigued when he saw that pic!!
I think he wants me to go hunting for one!! LOL
VERY nice.
That looks great Allen. You and Bill (Cool Springer) were thin'in out the fox herd in '09. Hope you don't mind, but here is Bill's red fox from the same county and year:

That is cool, I want to do a bobcat that way.
Nice!
That is one great looking mount, love the look, almost alive, CONGRATS!!!
Dale did a great job for you Allen and it is a good looking mount. Best to the CS boys.
Thanks Tom (and everyone else), yep Dale (the taxidermist)worked his magic once again. I am blessed to have more than my fair share (at least my wife thinks so) of his work.
Great mount. Need to show that to my Taxidermist. I keep teasing him that he has lost his creativity.
Came out great
THAT is a cool mount! !!!
I'm about to get a deer mount back from early Oct 09 as well....and I never even told the story. ....hopefully I will when I get it back.
Interesting mount... Cool lookin...

He definately looks alive in comparison to the definately dead photo.
Very nice work and very nice pose selection.
Cool mount Allen....not something you see every day.
