Walker and I attended our local club's 3D shoot this morning with a few friends. Everyone shot well and, as always, had a great time.
After the shoot, we were hanging around the truck shootin' the bull when one of the guys who coordinates the shoot approached carrying a target. He walked directly to Walker, handed him the target, and told him it was for such a good job on the course.
A huge smile was followed with an enthusiastic "thanks".
On the ride home, out of nowhere, Walker said, "His name is Squirrelly. He's a huntin' skunk."
I nearly had to stop the truck I laughed so hard. As they say, "Out of the mouths of babes."

What a great quote, looks like you got a future hunting partner (maybe two)!
Great start.
LMAO!What a great story. The title of your thread made me cringe at first, though. My stupid dog got sprayed by a skunk a couple of days ago.
Very cool! Great photo of what will be a priceless memory.
Reminded me of when I was a kid and helped a buddy of mine skin a skunk he shot...
We got used to the smell pretty quick. Seems like it took everyone else a couple of days to get used to our smell.. :dunno: :nono:
Great stuff Dusty, what a boy!
Dusty, Thanks for the share, I love the picture and the quote. Great looking boy. Enjoy your him, they are great but grow too fast. God Bless
I'm glad you guys enjoyed it as much as I did.
Walker is first class entertainment, and a fine little guy. I am truly blessed.
Dusty
Funny!Lol
Reminds me of when my 15 year old came to me with a dead skunk hanging from his arrow and wanted to know what he should do with it now. He's grown and out on his own, they do grow up fast.
Very cool! The traditional crowd is awesome.
Jason
Love to see kids in the outdoors and little gifts like that helps to keep them out there!! Great pic and something he will always remember.

Thats cute,Hope he dont get the target and the real thing mixed up.
Steertalker,
I've heard it is possible to remove the "stink" gland or sac from skunks rendering them as docile and odorless as house cats. Honestly, I was always very skeptical. Is this the case with the one you are holding?
Dusty
way to funny
Cool Beans......
Dusty,
BTW...cute story about your son. Didn't mean to hijack you or anything.
It's no biggy to "de-skunk" a skunk. If you can get a kitten(baby skunk) when they are very young and descent them they will make you a very enjoyable pet. Just like a house cat...only better. Very playful and loveable!
Brett
PS: Skunks, raccoons, opossums etc can carry rabies without exhibiting symptoms. So make sure you have them tested for rabies if you decide to make one into a pet.
No problem at all! I appreciate the info.
COOL PIC...
Ahhhhh the skunk, I think the skunk is the essence of everything that is wild. Dusty, that is a wonderful photo.
Thats great .
It never ceases to amaze me how enjoyable this site can be! Do you think you will get to actually shoot the target or is this a bedroom friend? Shootin at it or not he looks like a happy camper!
After supper for the past few nights, Squirrelly gets dragged out to the tree, and Walker shoots a dozen or so arrows at him.
He takes it pretty well. He's a pretty mild-mannered skunk.
Dusty
That story and pic are absolutely precious! Thanks for sharing...

Yeah, I'd say "essence" sums it up quite well.
Awesome!
Keeping with this week's tradition, we did a little shooting tonight as well.
Here's one shot Walker was proud of; it was not nearly as dark as it appears.

Sounds like the little toad shooter is moving on up to bigger game!
