WOW! Great work :notworthy: :notworthy:
beautiful, good luck with your hunt.
Coon007, I can't get away for this hunt. These are for friends, most of whom I've yet to meet. I'll be tickled if the guys break all the points -- as they exit far-side shoulders and ribs. :readit:
Wow, those are beautiful!!!!
Those are nice, what are the red ones made from?
As always, those are simply stunning Woody. Sure wish I was going on that hunt just for the chance to use one of those!
Are you able to make Compton's this year, or is that out for you too?
them sure is some purdy stones, cut real nice too. beautiful work, hope to see some pics of the critters they get.
Beautiful!!!!
Hiya, Whip. I'll be close to home til we move in three weeks. Look forward to seeing you in Texas!
Sorry, Ozark, I missed your post. Red glass! It's nice and dense -- works like obsidian.
OK Woody, You just made my decision. Forget my forged trade points & glass bow...Osage selfbow & Woody Knapped Points
:notworthy: :notworthy:
Sure wish you were comin'...But I'd be honored to try & shoot one for ya...Doc
Man Tippit knives and now Woody points and arrows! I want to go bear hunting so bad! You guys better take about a million pics.
Don't know if the BEARS will be, but I DARN SURE AM  :clapper: :clapper:
Them Bears are gonna be fightin just to see who gets to commit suicide first :goldtooth:
Top Shelf as always Woody.
Hey Woody,
I am a lucky man, those are just fabulous looking heads.
Could you knap a point or two from a turn of the century whiskey bottle? I have a couple, found in an old dump site, they are black and about 3/4" thick, just the bottoms.
Regards, Bert(lucky)Frelink :wavey: :wavey:
Thanks Woody, I've saved about a hundred pictures of your knappings. Incredible, the stuff you do.
Woody,
you are a gifted person - not only with the "Ishi-stick" but with the camera too! This pictures are so gorgeous - I have to wear sun glasses to watch them!
Have you ever considered doing a photo calendar or picture postcards? Pictures like these should win you a trophy in any photo contest!

edit:
Woody, I just sent you an e-mail!
The problem is, I know at least one redneck on that trip who thinks those heads are just too durned pretty to bust up on an ol bear. :saywhat:
Falk, funny you mention a calendar -- I just finished finished shooting the photos for a calendar on modern flintknapping. Should be very cool!
Tippit and JC, sure wish I could make it. I hope we can hook up in Texas -- we'd have lots of sharp pointy things to play with, that's for sure!
Vance, if you ever get the itch to try one on your local critters, you let me know. Never made a four-blade, though, so I don't think Charlie would be too interested. :readit: :wavey: :jumper:
Knifey,
wow....I was going to take my knife river ebony handled knife to skin bears with...will post some photos.
If someone puts one of those in a bear we definitely will have a blood trail to follow..they do an awesome job on game.
Some pics coming your way today, by email.
Woody, those are simply gorgeous. I will be looking forward to watching you make something like that next week. Hopefully some of it will rub off on me.....lol. I know I will be able to turn white rock into "RED" probably very very easy.....lol
Woody,
I'm taking my "Knife River Hand Held Impliment of Destruction" with me and hope to break it in right!! Those heads are awsome!! Hope we can do them justice. You know, it would be MUCH better if you were bringing them in person! We'll miss you, bro.
Bob
SAAZAMMMM! You guys are going to shoot THOSE!! WOW I don't think I could do it!! Woody those are just to pretty to shoot! :notworthy:
Brent
Hormoan, thanks for the generous words about those points, but they are working pieces -- sharp, sturdy, and functional. The ones in this photo are art -- beautiful little gems made by different knappers around the country. Most are as fragile as potato chips (they'd be heck on your digestive tract, though). GGG

I know they are working heads, just not sure I could stand to send them out on the job!! There beauty is really beyond words. :readit: I stand in awe! Thats talent right there you have! And your pictures always set me back. They are as awesome as the subject!
Brent
That picture just became my desktop!
My gosh Woody those are beautiful! Took my breath away! Love that RED too. I can also attest to Woody's camera skills. Most excellent.
Bill
Words escape me, but something like incredible and envy come to mind. beautiful work Woody.
Just picked up a fist sized chunk of Flint River Flint from another amatuer knapper today. Gonna make rock dust out of it I suppose. I asked this feller about where to start and he replied (like most of us bow builders talk about bow wood)..."Just whack it, it's only rock" LOL
I think Woody could knap a head out of a bowl of oatmeal. Sure wish he hadn't been kicked out of Virginia.
Killdeer :(
Woody,
Those points are so awesome...But I agree with you. Doing the job they were made for is a Bigger Compliment than just looking at them. Not that my knives even belong on the same page, but I'd rather have my knives beat up workin' than just collecting dust. I hope my aim is half as good as your points  Thanks again...Doc
Those points are beautiful, did anyone also notice that awesome piece of wood behind them???WOW
Ray, I thought that piece of wood might catch your eye. GGG It keeps whispering, "I wanna be a riser..." ;) Might look nice with an ebony swoosh running through it, eh?
Tippit, my points don't have ANYTHING on your great knives. I'm tickled they'll be in the same hunting camp next week.
Ya just gotta wonder what a FOLSOM Point would do an animal :scared: :scared:
Maybe we should hire Woodie out to some tribe :goldtooth: :goldtooth:
What Vmann said. That pic is awesome.<><
I don't know how I let this slip by me. You fellas are in for a high time. Killin bears with stone and glass, and cleanin em up with purty steel. Sounds like more fun than should be allowed. Can't wait to see pics and hear stories comin out of this one.
Woody,
Absolutely amazing.
Those are really beautiful points. Too nice to take out and shoot.
Heya
Just a small note, I live in Quebec and AFAIK stone points are totally Illegal to hunt with here.
Beside the fact that they are pretty as all get out you can't use em here. Steel only I am afraid.
Sometimes it really does suck to live in Canada but not most of the time.
