if you could only have 1 bow what would you have
I can't be of any help on this, too unreal!
Who is this, really!?!
Rod Serling? George Orwell?
Killdeer  :scared:
Black widow take down recurve. For limb replacement reasons and thier custmer service is 2nd to nun....
One of each!!!
Howard Hill's bow, the one he actually shot the rogue elephant with.
Right now it'd be my Zona T/D.
That "Magic" bow I keep hearin' about! :biglaugh:
St. Joe River or a Holm Made
pry my Schafer Silvertip recurve: 58 inches, 58 pounds. smooth as butter and pretty.
I haven't shot enough to say. So many bows, so little time.
Only one bow? YEESH! :scared:
I guess if I had to settle for only one, it would be a Dryad ILF, so I could switch limbs around when I wanted. Does ILF count here?
One bow,get serious,
A very unrealistic question. But if I had to choose just one, it would still be my 1970's Astro II 48# TD.
Blasphemey!
But, if the house is on fire and I have but one trip in and out, I'd drop one handful of family pictures and.......
hmmmm....surely the kids have these other pictures......OMgosh....
Schafer Silvertip--beautiful, great shooting, expensive, and long wait time.
I'm afraid I'd be like Stever Martin in the Jerk, "I'll take this, and this, and oh, this and this...."
Daniel, why would you send us into the Lion's Den like this?
Too depressing to think of such a thing :banghead:
all bocote schafer, she's the one, ole faithful.
If you had 5 kids which would be your favorite ????????????????
I feel light headed..Just one?????
BigJim's Buff bow, 60# @27 62"
F-Manny
Bob Lee TD Longbow
Bear Kodiak Special
(one of each year 1955-196?)
that's "ONE BOW" (model)
Who is this, really!?!
Rod Serling? George Orwell?
Killdeer
LOL...I just watched a Twilight Zone marathon last week...the originals....Way to Go Killy....
Any one of my selfbows.
Give me any bow of comfortable weight. With time, I think i could learn to shoot it well.
I'm usually happy when I have a bow in hand!
That is a great truth, Charlie.
All of us here have access to a computer, most of us own our own machine. That means that we spent good money on it, and spend more on software and internet service, and cameras and batteries...
Most of us here can afford more than one bow. Most of us are curious about the shooting characteristics of all the different styles of bows out there. Most of us would choose the latest wonder that they have purchased, or that incredible bow that they learned inside and out when they were fifteen.
So, the motivation for the question is intriguing. One could quite as well ask, which is the most popular bow? But the most popular bow in the world could be as unfriendly to your hand as a railroad tie, and so, you are left again with your own search. Take up your lantern, Diogenes, and seek out your honest bow.
Killdeer :wavey:
I shot my 1959 Alaskan today outside and was shooting exceptionally well.
So, today it's the '59 Alaskan...tomorrow????
Nicely said Killdeer. The joy is in the journey.
So far both of my favorite bows, of the ones I have owned and gotten to know, have been Blacktail TD recurves. It doesn't hurt they're also easy on the eyes.

One bow...man that's like having a cookie. Everybody knows you've got to have at least one for each hand. :dunno:
One wife? Yes. One bow? Not if I can help it.
However, if the house were on fire and I could only save one bow, the first bow that comes to mind is my 56" Treadway Black Forest.
The Horror.....the Horror...........
However, using Bowwild's fire in the house, one free hand scenario...my Big Jim Buffalo Bow. I would be crying my heart out though as I stood watching that stinking fire consume all my other beauties. :scared:
I would have to take a Morrison ILF
You have now entered the Twilight Zone. You need to shoot an EagleWing, You need to shoot an EagleWing.
This is not marriage. God never ordained for there to be one man and on bow. No , No , No he allows us Many Bows, Many Choices. Much happiness./
I used to show horses professionally,. I raised and showed Appaloosas,. However I loved Quarterhorses. Paints, Thorobreds, Trakheners, and even Arabians. Everything has its own place and its own purpose and beauty. Every bowyer has his own inspiration. background , ability, and goals. Each has something to offer. Check them out.
God Bless you all, Steve
Any one of the ten I already have. A person only needs one bow and maybe a back-up and a back-up for that one.
1 Bow??...What..Are you nuts??
But I guess if it ever came to that..I'm tearin' up just thinkin about it... it would be my 60" Super Shrew Deluxe. She's got it all, shoots comfy like a 70" bow, fits in as small a blind as I wanna be in, quick, quiet.....
Eric
:dunno:
Hill style bamboo longbow .
:help: :dunno: ......Nope, couldn't do it. The way I figure it, I could get at least two in the "one free hand" and several others "under my arm".
"Yeah.......thats the ticket!!!!"
Winterhawk1960
As of now it would be a Widow PCH. Tomorrow who knows...........LOL :dunno: :dunno:
"if you could only have 1 bow what would you have"
Okay - I get it! This is a riddle!
The answer is - ONE BOW!
Now if you could only have two bows, you would have two bows, and so on and so on.
This was too easy!
My experience with the vast number of quality bows is quite limited.
I would choose the one that naturally fit me best.
I'll bet one thing. You would sure take care of it!!! Cause if you only owned one then it would be a survival situation.
God bless you all, Steve
Why, what do you have?
A Blacktail recurve...about 5 pounds heavier than the one I shoot nearly every day and is currently hanging on my bow rack.
But I love all my bows, which is the reason I have never sold or traded any bow I've ever owned. Picking just one would prove difficult, if not impossible. Sophie would have a less difficult time making a choice than I would.
cal bow, i would keep my cocobolo silvertip
Border Black Douglas - although I probably would have picked up the silvertip 1st , put her down picked up the BBD put her down, picked up the tip... you get the idea..
I guess it would be the only one I have. A Shafer Silvertip! That's not by choice, the funds don't allow right now!! :banghead: Jason
My Big Jim Buff without hesitation and if my left hand could be put into play my TC ,,,,
I don't know if I can answer that one right, but I can say this, I've had my River's Edge Recurve longer than any other bow I've owned :)
Sounds like a question the wife would ask.. :saywhat:
If I could only have one I quess it would have to be my 2000 Spec. Edition Bighorn. I go for months without shooting it, then when I pull it out BAM...right on the money. :bigsmyl:
Joe,that is really one of the best bows ever made, indeed.
Second the Holm-Made!
Dave
I have thirteen, but four of those are Morrison Shawnee Longbows, so If I only had to keep one that would be my choice. 58", 50@27". Carbon/foam limbs.
Ive got only one bow at the moment :goldtooth:
To youre question, an exceptionally rare and expensive one, i could sell it and buy a 2 or 3 cheaper ones ;)
i would have to shoot a ton of bows to see which one i would want to stay with for ever.
It would be a toss up between my Centaur and my Super Shrew Deluxe. Man that is a tough choice. I will have to think about that some more.
Honestly I am not sure that bow has ever been built. Not to hi jack this thread and maybe should start a new one. But if you could only own one bow and never another one , What style , composition , poundage ,. ect would that be. Remember if it breaks you don't get another one. Your life depends on this bow. ect ect ect. Kind of an interesting concept./ I was thinking about the bows I have. Not sure I own that bow or built it yet.
God bless you all, Steve
I'm guessing a short, 50-56", 2-piece curve or longbow with ACS limbs, heaps of carbon and maybe Mr Neaves XTL lams, center-cut, FF tips, indestructable and enchanted by the gods with a +5 vitals seeking arrow! :)
Zipper three piece takedown recurve recently purchased at the Kalamazoo Expo.
Gotta be my 68" Bama Royal longbow. If I could own another bow right now - any other bow - it would be one of Chad Holm's Ospreys...just to change it up a bit!
First God tells us one woman. Now you say one bow. What next???
If push came to shove, I'd have to grab my Shawnee...
But, right now I've got a bow rack full of #1 bows... A pair of Shawnees, a pair of MOABs, a PSA II Widow, a Kwyk Styk, and heading to the Post Office to pick up a 2nd Kwyk Styk tomorrow... They are all in the 60# - 70# range at my draw length...
The Shawnees are A-Riser, E carbon foam limbed beauties that shoot where I look more often then even I can say... The MOABs are a pair of 60" beauties that take a bit more work on my part to put the arrow where it belongs, but worth the effort as they are a pleasure to shoot. The 58" PSA is like shooting with an old friend (shot them exclusively for a few years when I first went traditional...). Just got the one Kwyk Styk recently, 58" and even though we haven't known each other very long I'd go to the woods with her in a heartbeat. The one waiting at the Post office is a 56" Kwyk Styk and we are going to get aquainted tomorrow...
But, like I said, I'd have to grab the Shawnee if I could only have one...
Oh Oh when did this one woman thing start? Next thing will be one guitar and one canoe, not fair.
Just can't do it.I have to many nice shootin bows all for differant applications.
BLACK WIDOW,PMA...
Can't do it.
