Finally got around to working on this today!! I had the taxidermist pull the claws from one front paw for this project.
Step 1was to clean up the bone on the claws. I started with a fine wire wheel on a cordless drill, then sandpaper, then some 40 volume peroxide paste!

You can get all the Pony Beads, brass, and Pipe Bone from Crazy Crow, but if you're near Cody, WY, stop in the H&B Trading Post, they have it all!!

Then I stained the snow white pipe bone in a pan of hot tea!!!

And then strung it all together on some small cord!!!
On the bear hair...

You can get them at a number of places, I posted two links early on!! The red Pony Beads are the real deal, all the way from Czech!!
Very nice,well done!
Nice, nice, nice!
That is totally awesome. One great job.
Looks really good!
You did a great job, it sure turned out nice.
I think you should split it and turn it into two necklaces, one for each of the boys.
On second thought, you wouldn't want the ladies feeling left out.
Great job as always Brad!
God bless,Mudd
Very cool! Would love to do something like that if I shot a bear..

Actually, I believe I'm going to pull the claws from the other front paw and make 5 single claw necklaces!! 4 kids and the wife!!!
Looks Great!
That is cool! I have done one if these with turkey spurs, but those claws rock!!!!
Looking at the pics reminds me of the Jerimiah Johnson movie... "Pilgrim,... seen any GRIZZ"?
Looks great! I can't wait to get a chance at a big(or average) ol' bar!
Double lung, got any pics of the turkey spur necklace? I think that would be sweet too!
Turkey spurs add a great look to any necklace.
Here's one I made a very long time ago for wearing to the 1840's Rendezvous'(reenactment of course)

Cool bud, Sign up with Tony for 2012. All the Widder boys will be there.
Good stuff Mudd!!!
Big Ed, I'm hoping to but not sure at this point!!
wow, very cool. I had thought about doing that with a hide that a taxidermist says was mine but was not...long story, but I ended up with a hide that had been rubbed, not mine. I'm not all that crafty though...your necklace is really nice.
Great job, thanks for sharing the idea, I have a couple of smaller bears still in the freezer and would love to make something like that for each of my kids.

I like it! I have some claws in the freezer that I still need to clean up to make a necklace out of . This might just inspire me to get going on it.
Cool stuff.
Both necklaces are beauties....
Good stuff, both.I want one of each!
