Hey all,
Tomorrow I am heading to Springfield, MO for a conference and was thinking about dropping by Black Widow. Ever been? Will it be worth my time?
Thanks!
Been there, unfortunately I got there on a thursday after building hours were finished for the day. They build Mon-Thurs so they might not be making bows unless they are going overtime. Overall it's a great group and they will still take you through the shop even if it's not running.
Then you will get to shoot any of there 100-200 bows in the showroom.
It's worth taking the trip just to try them all out. Just about any combo bow you can think of. Weight, length, grip, every model they have at least ten to choose from to shoot.
Yes a couple of times, and the guys are great and if they have time can give you a tour of the process. First time i went me and my daughter enter in and Mr. Ken Beck himself gave us a first class tour and explain the many details to making a "Widow". This later had a great influence on me ordering one (years later never forgot the customer service). Second time last year, I went and Roger set me up with some bows to try out and had a blast just shooting in their small try out range.
One more thing...........bring your money because after you see the process to making a "plywood" bow you will want one :goldtooth:
Go visit them they are all very nice and you can shoot till your arm is sore. Just a short drive not hard to find. As stated above take your wallet.
sounds like it will be a good time. i currently have a psa III that is an 06 model but would LOVE to have a psax. thanks guys
Those guys are top notch. They know what "customer service" really means. They also make great bows. If I ever had a chance to stop by their place I sure would.
I did it over Christmas break. Wife and I drove over through Sikeston on 60. The drive is great about 5 hrs...
Spent the afternoon shooting bows and ordering one. These are really great folks who will help you as much as is possible with your bow.
Where are you from in SI?
Been their a few time. They treat you like family (not the crazy uncle that you want to leave) + make a great product/stand behind them. A great place to visit.
sounds like I should take the wallet and leave my wife at home:)
huntschool- i live about 5 miles east of pinckneyville, on 154.
If you are going over 60 its a pretty drive. I have driven over there a number times. Once you get past Van Buren it really gets nice until about an hour this side of Springfield. You also might want to allow some time to go to Bass Pro Shop in Springfiels. Its within 10 min or so of the Widow Works.
If you have free or travel time on your way back just off 60 is Pecks Ranch WMA. Thats pretty cool just to drive around.
Good luck. Tell Roger and the guys I said howdy

Don't go, it's a horrible place. They hypnotize you and make you spend all your money on their bows.
yep. Been there and got the royal treatment they give everyone. Nice bunch of guys.
Hey, while you're there, can you stop by the bass pro museum and see if they've finally displayed the bear archery stuff they bought and stuck away in storage. I've been to widow's shop. Definitely worth the trip.
Dangit Pops After looking at your Pics I may not make it 2 years.I am ready NOW!!
looks good pops. i can't wait until tomorrow. hoping to arrive there around 11 or so. i am definitely stopping by bass pro too.
thanks for all the replies!
Have fun. We stopped by BW in 2007 and had a great time!
I was at BW after Ken bought out the Wilson brothers in the early 80s and he had located to Highlandville, Mo. I have some 35mm pictures of it but I`am old geezer and been trying for 3 years to figure out photbucket works to no success,I was a BW dealer from 1982 till 88 when Ken dropped the dealer program. I sure would like to visit The new operation some time.
Go if you have the chance!!! Roger is a good tour guide but I'd watch Toby!!!!lol
