Title: Gharing Custom Archery
Post by: damascusdave on February 23, 2011, 08:15:00 AM
I recently picked up a slightly used LH static recurve made by Jon Gharing. The more I shoot it the more I appreciate it.

I have talked to Jon on the phone a couple of times and he is a true gentleman.

So lets see some pics of your pet Gharing masterpieces. I will start the show. The riser is made with macassar ebony. The limbs are incredible bamboo. I call the bow Bear Tooth for obvious reasons. It is marked 47 pounds at 30 inches which just happens to be an ideal weight for me and my draw length.

Great looking bow, really like the riser accent and woods. The only 3 pc bow I have is a Toelke Lynx. Just received it last week. Great Bow. Enjoy

I've owned 4 of Jon's bows. 2 longbows and 2 static recurves. I really liked them, but sold them for some dumb reason!!!!! The shot great and were real lookers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jon sent me a recurve and the first day I had it my lab chewed the riser!!!!!! He fixed it no $. Saw him that summer at Denton Hill, wanted to know if the lab was still around...LOL.

I thought he stopped making bows.

DDave if you have his # can you PM me, thanks.

Just to clarify, Jon is a busy man and has stopped making bows. I have a feeling it is in his blood and we have not seen the last of them.

I finally had this bow out in some nice sunlight yesterday and it is hard to describe the beauty of the grain in the riser. Truly a work of art.
