In the latest issue of Primative Archer Magazine there is an article about U.S. Marines training with archery equipment. Anyone know of any other services using archery in training or wartime?
I know of their use in Vietnam by Army Special Forces.
I may have to re-up!!!! :scared: :knothead: :nono:
During Jungle survival training they taught us how to make bows and other equipment for survival.
Any accounts of actual use in combat?
Tons of accounts of bows in combat up until the late 1800's!! ;)

Heres a pic of one Bear that saw action in Vietnam. Flamming arrows to burn down the tall grass along rivers.

"WOW!"
Very cool pic Tim!
that is a very awsome pic. first thing that camt to mind when i seen it was "wow, there goes a good arrow......"
Cool pic, TimZeigler. Anyone know what they used for the flame? I've read elsewhere how others have tried to shoot a flaming arrow but that the flame will go out while in flight. Not that I would want to try it myself. Just curious. Plus, I would imagine you'd need a really extra long arrow or just not draw too far to keep from burning the bow hand and bow itself.
Probably sternolike substance. Maybe grease and diesle?
The indian army still teaches some of its special units to use these weapons, the 22 establishment is a unit that is comprised of tibetian soldiers and indian officers that operates on the china /indi border and they specialize in traditional equipment even though they have the most modern equip available.Yhe same applies to the naga comprised units in the indian army, they use bamboo crossbows.
Good photo. Tim how or where can I get a hard copy of that photo for my man cave.
