Just a heads up for those looking for a spring bear hunt that I have a few openings left for this spring. Due to some hunters not producing deposits I'm left to offer up those positions in camp.
I have 2 (possibly 3) openings May 29-June 4th. That week will only have 3 hunters in camp to hunt the 16 baits in the 250 sq. mile area.
Talking with the previous owner this past week revealed that almost 1/2 of my baits are in areas NEVER used by the previous outfitters. The area previously hunted has not been hunted in 3 years. The area produces large and color phase bears.
Check out my link, watch my vids, and PM me if you are interested or have questions.
Thanks for your time....Ryan
Ryan, wish I could make it. 3 years from retirement so I'm hoping spring of 2015. Try to let one of those color phase bears grow a couple extra years!
Mike...I'll tie one to a tree for you, and feed him well till then!
Now that's what I want to hear from an outfitter. Let him loose to stretch his legs once in awhile! 3 years and counting!
Deal! I'll keep him tied up but leave him a treadmill!
cant wait for 2012!
Wished I could get up there this spring
sent you pm
Ryan I can't! I am so excited about bear hunting a place that has bears that big...come on June!!!
Jerry...sorry but didn't get the PM.
Mike D....patience grasshoppa!
Openings have been updated.
Sign me up for any good spot, but I really like the sound of "NEVER been hunted"!
Gary had a guy looking for 2 spots, I will let him know the dates that are open.
Just thought I'd let you know, I told that guy about the hunt. He's probably just looking, although I told him I would come with him next year just to film while he hunted. I'll let you know if he changes his mind.
Thanks Gary! Yeah Steve, the news of the "never" been hunted area got me pumped to see what we can get out of there. At least we won't be dealing with bait shy bears or nocturnal issues on a large scale.
Whoever bites on these last few openings is gonna be in for a treat! ...Ryan
Your killing me Ryan! Looks like I took another bite and now both Tyler and Jennifer will be trying to kill one of those "never" been hunted bears!
My 2000 Dodge truck with 197,000 miles on it can surely last another 3 or 4 years, right?
Yes it can Terry! Just pretend those are kilometers rather than miles :)
Terry....then you'll be in luxury in my 2001 Dodge!
Glad to have the whole Receveur family on board for the 1st week ever at Stickflingers bear camp. It's not gonna create any extra sibling rivalries is it?
The rest of TG....3 spots still open for week 3!
Ryan, sent you a PM
WoodsyDave
Ryan, Tyler and Jen have been hunting and shooting together since they were very little. They are competitive, but not with each other. They will both be hunting hard to do the best they can. Tina is on board!
Jen and Tyler have their Jr./Sr. Prom on May 21st. They are both just fine with missing it for bear hunting!
We are all pumped.
Ryan, having baited bears for other hunters, I KNOW how much effort goes into ONE bait. I bet you sleep good when your "busy" season arrives.
:archer2:
I can hardly wait to see the pictures and read the stroies of these hunts.I'm sure some big bears are gonna be headed to the states.
Bill
Ryan, sent you message and havent heard back from you..jerry
Jerry... Sorry but I didn't receive the message and sent you one to respond to. Did you not get mine either?? Try e-mailing me at ryanderlago@hotmail.com.
Is there a chance you haven't cleared your messages in a while and it's full...just a thought??? I don't know??...Ryan
Bonebuster...That's funny you know the kinds of sleeps after baiting all day...lights out!!
Sounds like fun!!!!!
You guys are gonna be in for a treat!
pm sent .. thanks, ken
exciting to watch those video's .... I've never bear hunted, gawds it looks like a lot of fun !
ttt
Jerry...did you get that reply?
Wish I wasn't broke. Ever since moving to AZ it's been tough to get back to Canada for a bear hunt.
Yeah Thunderhorn, money seems to be tight as a general rule these days! I'll have spots in camp for years to come so there's no rush. PM me when you're ready to head up here...Ryan
Still 3 spots... May 29- June 4!
Don't make me go to the "other" site to start advertising!!!
Please guys! Don't make him go to the "other" site!
Really, I cannot believe Ryan still has spots open for THEE best week to hunt up here. For the guys that backed out of that week, big mistake. If you were fudging, take it from this outfitter, the biggest bears are shot that week.
If I had the money, you can bet I would come hunt with you Ryan!
I have no doubt you run a WORLD CLASS operation!!!
Ryan, Tyler and Jen are shooting pretty good up close at about 10 yards. They are shooting at least 25 arrows a day and generally close to 50. Right now we are just working on form and muscle memory. We'll be moving outside soon and shooting from a ladder stand. How many stands will be elevated and about how high? Ground blinds sound like a lot of fun too!

IndianaBowman, I bet you roll over at night and get butterflies thinking about what is coming!
All the dedication inspires me. "Take your kids hunting and you won`t have to hunt for your kids"!!!
Bowhunting at it`s very best. :campfire:
Pure spirit!
Bonebuster, you got that right! I'm all about making memories. It's the only thing you can take with you when you check out of this world. They are both getting really excited. I have been blessed beyond words to have a wonderful wife that enjoys doing this stuff with us as well and kids as good as they get. I wake up at night all right just to make sure I'm not always dreaming about how blessed I am.
:wavey: :campfire:
Terry....just love how you don't take things for granted!
As far as the shots.....all 15 yards or under and maximum height will be 15 feet. Most will closer to 12 feet as I much prefer the shot angle vs. steep shots. A couple baits are only 6 foot stands and ground blinds about 15 yards.
With groups like that the bears are in big trouble! Tic...tic...tic
Is it 2013 yet??? 2 years and one masters degree to go.Then Tracy and I will be on our way to see you,Ryan.
Terry, I cant wait to hear the stories.
Bill
Still working on the wife Ryan1
I'm rootin' for ya Jerry!
Boy Terry, you are going to be getting some great footage of those kids. The blood trails will be short with that kind of accuracy
ttt
Finally had enough snow melt that I could get out back and set up a ladder stand to practice from.
Ryan, the ladder stand is a 15'. How far should the farthest target be set? I've got a deer 3-D, a bag target, and the new bear target. What range would you set them?
They are shooting awesome at 7-8 yards on the ground. Just put them in a ground blind at about that range. That should be exciting for them! :)
This is gonna be great!
Hi Terry....the furthest will be 15 yards but I'm all about the 7-8 yard stuff too! All the stands will be under 15 feet or just 15 feet. I'd practice all distances under 15 yards. We'll set it up for close shots...Ryan
Thanks Ryan!
I still can't get over the size of the 7 1/2 footer you shot last year. They just don't get much bigger than that!
Ryan, are there any openings left?
Your operation just sounds like too good an opportunity to pass up. I'm sure my family and I won't be disappointed.
3 openings May29-June4! Thanks Terry
Perfect week for a big boar to come around the baits looking for a sow. Unhunted bears, new areas, an outfitter with this much enthusiasm, someone has to jump on this opportunity!!
Just watch the videos on his website and you'll be selling lemonade to get the money together for the hunt.
I try but seldom succeed at staying away from Manitoba Stickflinger's posts.
I've never met the man(Ryan) but from watching his videos he has garnered my utmost respect.
If I were ever inclined to try a bear hunt I don't think I would look any further than Manitoba Stickflinger's offerings.
Unfortunately I don't see anything as costly as bear hunts on my radar.
It's part of the price I pay for being a "Bowaholic" and also having very limited resources.
Having said that I am so very grateful for everything I have and by the world's standards am a very rich man.
The bank and I own my home, I drive a relatively new truck, I sleep in a warm dry bed every night(if I chose to), I have more than ample food to eat.
There are literally millions of people in the world that can't make even one of those claims.
My prayer is to be a blessing for any and all that who I can.
Sorry, I got caught up in a train of consciousness.
God bless,Mudd
Well what can I say to that...Thank you!And you Mudd...are certainly a blessing to all of us here and this site!!
Mudd, you are absolutely right. I appreciate you helping to keep things in perspective. I know I am blessed beyond imagination. In addition to the things you note above. I'm also blessed to have 4 healthy and smart kids, good health myself, and a wife that loves me despite all my faults. Getting to hunt with Ryan is just some very sweet icing.
Just curious. How much snow do you guys have left up there? When are you allowed to start baiting? I know it probably is still winter up there but us guys down here are starting to have spring fever! So, have you picked out all your stand locations and what will you use to get them started? Beavers, scents, etc.? Just thought a lil spring bear hunting info would help pass the time away until we are actually chasing those bruins.
Very well said Mr. Mudd. You are a wise man.
God bless Mudd!
Still plenty of snow up here...at least a few feet deep in the woods! The last 2 days we have had temps. in the plus so the snow is starting to go.
As far as baiting, I'll get bait in the drums as soon as I can get into the baits (likely the end of April) I have 15 baits in place and baited up as of early last fall so I'm sure the bears will be on them 1st thing come spring. 2 or 3 more baits to establish and that's it!
I'll be using the old faithful corn/oats/frier grease combo as well as some beavers and perhaps scent sprays or smoke stix. Getting one bears feet sticky with grease is all it generally takes to bring a bunch more in to the bait.
Tic...Tic...Tic...
It's gonna be really nice knowing that after I chase turkies for 6 weeks and get to the first week of May, I will be inside of 30 days until I am bear hunting with Ryan...I simply can't wait. My first bear hunt, hunting with fellow Tradgangers and in an area that has giant, color phased bears. This is gonna be GREAT :campfire:
If you need a camp cook Ryan I'd volunteer...lol
My biscuits are half bad either..lol
But my "Dutch Oven Dump Cake" is to die for...lol
God bless,Mudd
Sounds great Ryan! I'm praying for an early spring. Hopefully there will be some bears out when Tyler and Jen are up.
Mike...you're GOING TO shoot a big one...are you ready?
MUDD...I'll take your offer as serious and perhaps take you up on it in the next couple years!
Terry...early or not, spring will bring at least a few bears to Tyler and Jen. Maybe even a few a night...we'll see!
you guys are killing me so very glad i have my deposit in for next season!
We're hoping Ryan! Just two good bears is all it will take. One for Tyler and one for Jen. We've been having shooting competitions every day. Tyler beat me yesterday. I must be getting old!
Looks like no huntin for you this spring Ry, Do you need me to keep your tree stand warm at "ole faithful" their buddy !!
Ryan, will you be using any blinds like a Double Bull? If yes, I'll get Tyler and Jen shooting from one. You could set one up about 5 yards from a bait. That'd get their heart pumping.
Ryan, here is the current shooting set up for practice. Any suggested changes?
How high up is he? Looks up there.
Terry...just love the training all of you are doing for the hunt! Thanks for the pix too. We can certainly do the ground blind thing, but I prefer to use natural cover...double bulls are only good if left in place for a period of time to let the mature bears get used to them. If they are left there for a time period they get eaten...hence why I don't use them for bears! Remember, we're looking for mature bears!
5 yards on the ground seems to be a theme this year...let's do it!
Um, keep me up in the tree please!
I just told Jen and Tyler about the 5 yard ground blind and Tyler said "oh goodness, that's scary". Jen said, "that'd be so cool".
Were on Ryan! Set us up on the ground 5 yards away. They both said "we can make that shot and if not were screwed!"
Lechwe, the stand is 15' up, but the targets are down in a depression a little.
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!You guys are killing me!!!
Bill
5 yards...on the ground...and bears as big as Volkswagons.
:bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
You guys are nuts. My safety rope will have a quick release and I am thinking of packing a Louisville Slugger with me to stand to make sure they know all the bait is IN the barrel...
Steve...can I get that Louisville Slugger vs. bear thing all on video...now that's traditional! Is the bat weighted FOC?
Too funny Ryan! :D
Batter up! Now that would be good TV!
Ryan, maybe you should only count on having one of my kids in the ground blind at 5 yards at a time. I'm not too confident I can get Tina to agree to video under those circumstance. Besides, who wants to watch a bunch of video jumping up and down. It would look like the Blair Witch Project or maybe it's the Bear Watch Project.
:biglaugh:
It will definitely not have a skinny handle, and not be corked!
Ryan,
I hear Steve likes to be tucked in at night also. You may want to make sure to have an extra night light for him incase they won't let his on the plane :goldtooth:
Noted**** nitelight and bedtime lullabyes for Steve!
Hey Terry,
I know hat you mean! I hunted NewBrunswick last spring with Hunt24/7 and all his blinds are 5-6 yards on the ground! No Dbl bull! Brush pile. Man its a rush! I got a chance at a big boy, But i choked! Good luck! Maybe Wess will see this and a post a trail cam picture of the big boy!
Tony
Yup, big bears on the ground is the way to go!!!!!! Just make sure you have a healthy heart & a clean diaper on!!!!! LOL!
Oh, and good luck to all the hunters & guides!!!
24/7....please send that bear west!
I'm thinking Steve needs aluminum. He's not pro yet, is he? :)

I'll trade you this guy for a nice western color phase!!!!
Wes, that thing is a beast! Holy smokes!
Tony, please don't tell me you missed a bear that size at 5-6 yards? It's like shooting at a Volkswagan!
No Terry! I hit him in the pocket, But i hit a limb coming out of the blind, Sending the arrow at him sideways. Resulting in a flesh wound. But man that was a studd! I'm still sick!Any guess how big guys?
Tony, I don't know how big, but I do know it is VERY big! Glad to hear he is still out there for you. You'll have to tell me how big after you get him this spring.
Will do Terry- Happy B-day my friend!

Hey 24/7
Did you give that fella a nickname? "THE BUS" comes to mind. Good luck chasing him this spring.
To stay with the "Bus" theme you could name the bear "Bettis" for all those Steelers fans.
Ooooooh that guy's been called a few things!!!!!! Especially by Tony!!! Lol!
Sounds like he has some armor plating so maybe Tank.
Ryan, you got one that size tied up for Tyler or Jen?
Ryan, how you doing on the final spots you had open?
I sure hope they are gone. If I show up and am filming for Tyler and Jen and the action is hot and heavy with big and plentiful bears and they tag out and you have a tag left, it will probably cost me more money than I've already spent.
Hi Terry! I've already thought about you being the 1st to get a tag if one is left!
3 spots still open for week 3. I have a "maybe" for all 3 spots but nothing confirmed. Busy getting everything ready, and doing my best to tie up a couple big ones for Tyler and Jen.
It's gonna be great meeting everyone from here!!!
Thanks Ryan! I've been shooting everyday right along with Tyler and Jen just in case. Well, actually in hopes of drawing a Wyoming Shiras moose tag.. but you never know.
Saw you were getting a few days of decent warmer weather. My fingers are crossed for the snow melt and bear emergence.
Still 3 openings guys!!!
Yeah Terry, it's warming up a little. Was dipping grease today as it's finally thawed out....got filthy! Warm temps for the next few days....c'mon May!!
May my rear, c'mon June :smileystooges: Can't wait to get there :)
OK OK Mike...C'mon May AND June!!!
Just a little story some of you might enjoy:
Walked out of the house this am. to the horrible smell of rotting meat overwhelming the neighborhood. OOPS... that's my fault! I've been busy all morning getting it from pails into bags and into the freezer. Took the excess out of town for the coyotes and birds. Not in my wife's good books right now. But how can she resist the bear hunters cologne....Ryan
That is a good one,Ryan. :bigsmyl:
Bill
Allowing it to get "aromatic" is a good way to keep yourself from eating the bait.
Man, I can't wait to get a sniff of that wonderful bear attracting odor!
Won't be long now Ryan. Hopefully the snow is melting away and the bears are getting restless.
