I just got my first recurve bow, but it didn't come with a string. It says 62" on the limb. I was just wondering if there is a standard string length for a bow this long or if there was a certain way I should measure it to get the right string that fits this bow best? Also, how do I go about tuning this bow? I've heard about brace height is this the main thing I should worry about and how do I find out what the best brace height for my bow is? I'm new at this so any suggestions will help.
Thanks
Usually for a recurve, you need to get a bowstring 4" shorter so for a 62" recurve, you need a 58" bowstring.
As an example, I have two 66" recurves and my bowstrings for them are 62".
A good starting point for brace height is usually around 7.5 to 8 inches. What brand of bow is it. That makes a difference.

My Martin Hunter 62" recurve uses a 59" string,I usally go 3" shorter on most of my bows if I don't have an old string to measure.
It's a person colt 62". Thanks for the info everyone. Any other info or tips will be greatly appreciated.
FWIW my Pearson "Cougar", also 62" likes the 58" string; brace height exactly at 8". Works great for me.
I use a 58" string on my Ben Pearson Colt (62" AMO) for an 7-3/4"" brace height.
