Title: Has any one had this epoxy arrow problem?
Post by: CJ Pearson on June 11, 2007, 06:58:00 PM
2 weeks ago I mixed up some JB Weld 2 part 60 min epoxy to glue inserts into my Goldtips. I used even amounts of each and noticed that it wasn't as milky as what I usually mix. Sure enough I went to add points to them yesterday and noticed that the inserts were turning slowly. I then pulled one insert out and it was sticky with the bad epoxy that apparently was used.
Has anyone ever had this happen, and if so what did you use to clean the inside of the arrows so that they can be re-epoxied? Any help would sure be greatly appreciated.

put a bore brush on a drill run in out of the end a few times and see if you can get an insert in

CJ,
JB Weld is all I'll use now but the stuff I mix up is a dark shade of grey and it's the 24 hour set kind of epoxy.

Never skimp on the 5 minut or even the 1 hour epoxy.  The good stuff needs 24 hours to set well.

You would be amazed at what I can do with 30 min set epoxy in my shop   :saywhat:   ,,of course the directions say no use for 24hrs   :D   ,,I just like it to set a bit quicker for my work on taxidermy.   ;)   If I can use that two ton on wet tan critter hyde without any drumming I bet I can use it for some inserts to some carbon arrows   ;)

Hey CJP pm me your addy so I can send you some real nice cleaning brushes to clean out those arrows,, I have steel and brass brushes you can have..JB
