:help: :help: :help:
I fletched a few arrows with fletch tape and shot them on Sat. They really suprised me. I thought for sure my feathers would be flying off but instead, my groups got tighter and the arrows seemed to perform better. Didn't loose any feathers. I put a drop of glue in front and to the rear of the feathers.
Any comments or opinions will be usefull.
Thanks all!!!!!!! :wavey:

You got it right!I lost many feathers when I used certain fletch glues whenever I used thin membraned feathers. The tape solved that problem and then some. Its some really good stuff even though its not real trad.
-
It is all I have used for several years now, and have now complaints. Even after the feathers getting wet a couple of times and the occasional miss I have, LOL.... I mean the very often misses, they have held up remarkably well.

Great stuff, and makes replacing a single feather or re-fletching the entire arrow a whole lot easier. I've used it for years, no complaints here.

I agree... pretty hard to beat fletch tape
-
Same here. I've had half the feather ripped off which is no fault of the tape. It's easier to re-do one that needs repair also.
-
i just started usin it this year, and i love this stuff! works better than i thought...

 :notworthy: :clapper: :jumper:

LOVE THE STUFF!<><

I had a dozen arrows lose their fletching a few years back using the tape. Must have been something to do with the paint I was using. I think it was Rustolium if I remember correctly. I started using it again this past hunting season and everything held together great. Sure makes quick work of putting four fletch arrows together.
-
Love it!!!! I can't imagine ever going back to glue.

I just lost a feather on my new eastons using Fletch-Tite Platinum. I hate the stuff, I can't get it to stick to anything, on two others the hen feathers just unglued in the middle. I just bought some plastic cresting material to cover the shaft. I'm gonna fletch the rest with super glue.
My question, is this better or worse than the fletch tape? And where do you order it online? I havnt found any on 3 Rivers.
-
Greetings electric blues -- 3 Rivers does have it. It where I buy mine. Search 3 rivers for Feather Tape or Fletching Tape, either should lead you to the tape.
Cheers from Alaska

Go with the fletch tape E B, you won't be sorry.
I just refletched some arrows this morning that I had orginally fletched with the tape. I did a dozen arrows in about an hour. That includes stripping the old fletching off. I'll never go back to glue, it would have taken me much longer if I'd used glue originally.
Do a search for Bohning Fletch Tape...least I think it's a Bohning product. Every one just calls it Fletch Tape, & some times I don't remember so well. :help:
-
If someone tried to take my fletch tape at gunpoint, I wouldn't even bother to ask if they wanted salt or pepper before I fed them their gun! If that don't explain how much I love that stuff then nothin' will. 'Nuff said, TMG.
-
I found an arrow that I lost last year in the high grass, feathers were on with tape and still intact. I will continue to use it.
-
I have a question.I have heard in hot weather , that fletch tape will move around on the shaft,so I havent tried it. It gets really hot here, will be around 95 degrees today.Anyone had that happen?---------Bone :saywhat:
-
Hey Bone, SEMO summers are consistently in the mid to high 90's with humidity to match the temps, and I've not had any trouble losing fletch taped feathers. A drop of duco on the front and one on the back seems to do the trick.
-
Thanks Ozark--Think I will give it a try,sure seems a lot quicker than glue.---Bone
-
BONE,
I have never used anything but fletch tape for feathers past 10yrs. I have hunted in temp up to 105F with no problems at all. Left arrows in truck at 120 or better no problem. If anything heat makes tape stick better. Only problem I have had with tape is with areosol water proofing for feathers it turns glue on tape to gooy mess and you'll have to redo them all. I found this out the night befor leaving on a moose hunt and of course I sprayed all of the before I noticed the problem.
-
Thanks Hunt-it--Thats the kind of info. I was looking for. That sounds like my kind of luck  ------------Bone
-
I'm in MS, we get temps similar to yours--no problems here.
Chad
-
That is all I will use to fletch with.
-
You mean they still make fletching glue :knothead: ?
I have been using fletch tape for the past 10 years, and can't believe that anyone still uses glue.
To help with your question Bone, I have hunted in 100+ temps in Texas and southern Arkansas without any difficulty. I have also used fletch tape in Africa without a single bad occurance. This said, if you store your arrows tightly for travel (like in an arrow tube) your fletching may change angle a bit. By this I mean that the feather actually tilts a little, though I don't think I have had one actually move on the shaft. You can fix this by reapplying some pressure, but I've never had it affect flight much. It just makes them look a little funny.
Go tape, you will never go back.
-
Got the message guys,I will get some today.--Bone
-
I just ordered some too! It must be great stuff if doc is using it. LOL
-
Ed,
Get this stuff and they will be calling YOU the ARROW DOCTOR :) .
The other great thing is that you can replace a damaged fletch in the field without any tools. Just apply the tape and line up your fletch and push it down. So simple even a caveman could do it....sorry Geico.
-
Watch out Doc,you may have a caveman protesting in your office--LOL :saywhat: ---Bone
-
No trouble with heat, but I shot a doe in Jan. once and on impact all 3 feathers flew off!! No matter ,job was done!
-
Not only is it the toughest of fletch adhesives, but it works on everything. Woods, carbons, aluminums, and just about every finish, sealer, paint, and lacquer we bowhunters use...

:campfire:
Thanks gents for all your opinions. :archer:

The Handy-mans secret weapon .... fletch tape.

Hey guys, has anyone had any experience with fletching tape and feather burners. I just started to use the tape and I love it. I've even been able to carefully peel it off of dipped and crested shafts and refletched without re-painting. Tough to do that with glue. I have some wild turkey feathers I ground at full length that I want to burn to shape and don't want to waste material if the tape won't take it. Thanks. Grant
-
Grant,
I have set up home done turkey feathers without any problems. I use a chopper instead of a burner, but it shouldn't make any difference on the quill side of the feather.
-
Thanks 'Doc, I'll let you know how it turns out. Grant
-
I've not used it but I think I'll look into getting some now! How hard is it to use? Does it twist or bunch up when using it on helical fletching? Can you see it under the feathers once the arrows are finished?
-
pseman,
You can see the tape at the edges unless you cut it exact. I leave mine about 1/16" long at the ends. You won't notice it under the flethcing any more than you would glue. It does fine with helical fletching. That's all I shoot.
-
how dose it handle abuse say like going thru hay bails
-
Bill it does just fine. I shoot mine thru bales and styrofoam targets, never had it peel because of that. Just make sure you've put a drop of glue at each end of the fletching.
-
guess i'll have to give it a try thanks
-
I agree its better than using glue and a lot faster to complete the fletching process. I have used it since I first discovered it being sold at ETAR. Since then it has been improved considerably. Its all I use now. Just use the flectite glue on each end of the feather.
-
I hope this wasn't already covered, but I have heard it is easier to remove than Glue from the shaft for refletching??
Any tips???
I just started shooting carbons, and am thinking of refletching shafts when needed, could be a hassle with scraping the glue off of carbon
Thanks
