I like to try new stuff from time to time.I was looking at trying some new two blades. One that has caught my attention is the Stos and the other is the eclipse.I might add, that I am fond of magnus and zwickey heads.Any imput on the Stos or the Eclipse? the eclipse has a teflon coating and somewhat of radiused edge. Thanks CRAIG
Craig, I shoot the Eclipse broadheads and they are great heads and for me are real easy to sharpen.
Eclipse = good. I shoot Zwickey Eskimo's and love them, too.
Another vote for Eclipse. I would have to say though that I shoot the 145gr 4 blade. Awesome head and kills big hogs and Bison dead!
If you are into trying new heads I invite you to try these before next season. They are currently in the works and will be available soon.

That being said, I've shot both STOS and Eclipse and have met the fellas at Eclipse and you couldn't go wrong with either.
Stan
WOW that was quick! Thanks for your reply.Does that radiused edge make it more difficult to sharpen?
Haven't tried the Eclipse. The Stos, last I knew, was made for Todd Martin by Magnus. It is of equal quality to the Magnus heads. I favor the Stos design slightly.
I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three - Eclipse, Stos or Magnus.

(Magnus, RibTek & Stos above)
STAN is that a single bevel?
Yessir, single bevel. The rendering is of the 100 grain, but we have 125 and 150 grain heads in the works as well.
The STOS is a high quality head.Good steel and the ferrule is precise. The ones I have mounted on adapters needed no tweaking to get them to spin true.I find that rare and a big consideration in choosing a broadhead.
Stan that is a great looking head!!
I shoot MagnusII,but have shot both Zwickeys and Eclipe.Like them all. You wouldnt go wrong with any of them.As far as Stos, never tried them.
Both are great heads, but I favor the STOS.
My 2117s and my 2114s are tipped with STOS broadheads when I go bowhunting. They're strong, the tips don't curl, they fly great and they're easy to sharpen.
Both the Eclipse and STOS heads are excellent heads with loyal followings for good reason. I like the teflon coating on the Eclipse, and they are super tough, but you won't find an easier head to sharpen than a STOS. Todd at STOS has also taken over the production from Magnus, so they'll now be made in Texas.
It's a win-win IMO.
I shoot the STOS 160's. Best flying broadhead I have shot. Great construction and easy to sharpen.
first time trying out both eclipse and stos heads for hogs come this april.

Outstanding. I was worried when Mike Sohm announced the glue-on line was for sale. I really can't decided whether I like the Stos or the MA125 better. So I keep some of both on hand. It is a great thing to have excellent options.
Some of the old ones still work well. Sorry couldn't resist :) Doc

Nice looking heads Doc.
I just purchased 6 new STOS 160'S. The grind on the bevel is inconsistant and they weighed from 154 to 156 grains with one making 159 on a RCBS electronic grain scale. I'm sure they would loose at least another 5 grains after sharpening. Eclipse no experience. Magnus have always been solid so am surprised since Magnus makes STOS. Expecting too much? Maybe but I was looking for a 160 gr. sharpened head. I would like to see a little harder steel as well.
Magnus II(I've never lost a hog that I've shot with one), I like the Zwickey No Mercy a lot ,too.
I shoot STOS 160. Easy to sharpen and fly great.
Stan, I'm up for trying the 150s when they're available. Keep us posted.

Will do ;)
I shoot Zwickys but there are a lot of great Broadhead out there I believe most have been already posted.
Stan, when are those 100gr. going to be available? I like the looks of them and would be intersted in using them on my trip to Africa this summer.
I like the eclipse but I don't think this deer did. Seem a little easier to sharpen then Zwicky and don't bend as easy. Caution they are deadly when taken internally.

Hoping to have them available by the end of March. However, I can't promise that. I will definitely update the progress as I go. Thanks.
STOS works good and is very easy to sharpen (straight edges). The one improvement it could use however (as could a lot of broadheads on the market) is a tip like the broadhead on the left in Stumpkiller's photo. I have never curled a STOS I put a tip like that on. I have curled the factory tip.
I've killed 5 deer and a coyote with the same STOS 160 grain broadhead. Washed it off, put a few light strokes on it and it's ready to go. Messed up and told the wife about it, her only response was, "Why do you have all those other broadheads then?"

The newer STOS' have a tanto tip. They're what I'm using these days. I too was a little disappointed with the factory bevel, not very straight and inconsistent, but a little work with the KME and they function fine.
STOS fit the taper well, sharpen easily (they come pretty darn sharp out of the box, too), and I haven't bent one yet.
While both are great heads I like the STOS a great deal. As mentioned in the above posts they fit the taper well, and fly great.
I alo find them easy to get scary sharp and I have not had one bend.
Zwickeys are good, Magnus the tips curl, Bear razors are so-so, the older bear heads are better. Never tried Eclipse heads, STOS heads are the best two blades I've used.
got stos 160's and eclipse 125's to test out this spring on hogs.
also, don't forget those massive panzer tank hog killers, the concorde 190's.

Man, Those Broadheads look wicked.
Have shot the old Journeyman head which is the same profile, etc. as the Eclipse on numerous wild boar. Never had a head fail, easy to sharpen, and deadly. Can't comment on the STOS.
Sure like the looks of StanM's broadhead, but can't tell a thing about the size. Are they all the same regardless of weight? If not how big is the 150?
Fan of STOS
I like Eskimo's myself.

I can't see the pic! It says it has been moved or deleted?
