How many people cannot drink coffee or caffeine before they shoot?
I seem to only notice it when I have wayyyy too much?
Cheers :coffee:
Thats why I drink it all day long every day, It's 8:45 pm and I just made a pot a half hour ago.Coffee soothes the soul.It keeps me focused and on target. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :jumper:
I can't do anything before I have at least a half a pot in me. Well maybe two cups but I'm going to have a pot in me before I'm done. Coffeeaholic here.
I got off it for a while (4 years), but then I was introduced to a coffee press at deer camp this past season, and I'm back to a half pot or so a day. I only drink Kona coffee, just because it tastes just like it smells.
Cant function without coffee, maybe because I'm a former Jarhead.
You can never have too much coffee .....
Unless in a confined place with no access to 'amenities'..... :saywhat:
Mike nothing beats a french press for coffee.I had a friend who was Colombian and he would bring me Rojo brand it was a very fine ground coffee and awesome.
Coffee is a must... Period! Saturday mornings when I shoot or hunt, coffee starts the day! I do a lot of woodworking on the weekends and I find the only thing that cures the "coffee jitters" is feeling taut muscles flinging about 5 arrows down range. In all seriousness, my thoughts calm and my blood pressure lowers when I pull the arrow back...
ummmmm yer kidding right bro????????? i bleed coffee!!!!! i refuse to move before the coffee pot starts talking to me!
With out at least two cups in the morning, I am lost.
I shoot equally poorly with or without coffee, but I feel better with my coffee. A coffee press? Sounds like guys who shoot ILF and need to adjust their tiller :scared: :saywhat:

 Navy here.
There is no life before coffee
*****COFFEE IS YOUR FRIEND*****
I don't function without coffee, even in the dead of 100 deg summer i drink my coffee. As stated above i bleed coffee.
The caffeine I'm not sure of never really gave it any thought. The coffee on the other hand..... :coffee: :dunno: . I can't stand the stuff. I drove long haul flatbed for 6 years and would never get coffee at the truck stops. I'm really a Mountain Dew man myself. It always taste bitter to me. Another thing I really can't handle either is chocolate, it has that bitter taste to me also.

X2 :coffee: :coffee:
At my last shoot, i was drinking 4 cups of coffee during the wait for the start, another archer saw this and asked why i drank that much of the stuff...."Lets me shoot faster!" :biglaugh:
My daily rutine up at 4 coffee at 4:01 tradgang at 4:05 everyday. It will affect my shooting if I dont drink any coffee.also if I dont drink coffee it seems to affect others around me.
If coffee didn't taste so good, then I'd just use an IV bottle and a needle for my two pots a day.
I need my coffee, my wife calls mine Diesel fuel because I make it strong & she swears that it would keep my truck going.
I sometimes go through 1-2 pots a day, never noticed any real effects on my shooting.
Heh, you are at a very serious stage in your shooting ability. I too USED TO avoid coffee till after the tournament. Now I like the coffee better than a perfect score card.
But honestly, if you have serious competition it does make a difference.
But shooting out of a treestand after sitting 4 hours at 12 degrees can have me shaking a bit too.
Enjoy yourself as much as possible, if you want coffee, drink it. Its just a shoot.
I'm usually a one-big-cup-in-the-morning guy.
We were headed to a 3D shoot last summer and stopped at the Big "M" for bre4akfast. It was already getting hot, so I ordered some "fru fru" iced coffee drink. By the time we got to the shoot, my heart rate was up and I literally couldn't hardly come to full draw! Last time I ever bought one of those drinks!!
I drink it then shoot my foam cup
One cup a day ain't bad for ya, too much and sooner or later you pay the piper. Remember, every time you eat, you age, Every time you drink coffee, you age faster. Sorry to be the bearer of this, but please don't kill the messenger.
i have had my battles with beer, i simply admit defeat to coffee!!
Having my cup now before I go do some shooting here.I love being able to shoot in the house.
Love coffee...ever since I gave up chew it's my new thing.
I enjoy a cup a day. It does wonders for the bowels.
We used to put the instant coffee packets that came in the MRE's under our tongue to stay awake during long ops. Sometimes when it got real bad the grounds would find its way into our eyes to add more pain to the mix.
Just like the old cadence, "looks like muddy water and taste like turpentine". As far as before shooting goes, a strong cup of Irish coffee does take the edge off a bad session. For some reason I seem to care less about how bad I'm shooting....
Remember, every time you eat, you age, Every time you drink coffee, you age faster. [/QUOTE]
So if you don't eat you don't age. Just soak donuts in your coffee. I mean really soak them, they become part of your coffee. Might work for a little while.
I really enjoy a cup or four when sitting on the porch in the cool of the morning. This is only going to happen on my days off, so on work days I have to settle for the computer screen instead of the sunrise.
Not a good trade... not a good trade at all.
God Bless,
Nathan

I must be a pre-historic 41 yo archer.Coffee s my viagra for archery and life  :archer2:
Every time you wake up in the AM you are a bit older,......I'll take it versus not wake'n up! :goldtooth: Where's my coffee!
I don't think I could get my bow to full draw without coffee.
I don't get shaky until until the third quart.
I do not drink any caffine a few hours before I shoot. I can not concentrate at all. When I go hunting, I do not have any caffine. It gets tough during all day rut sits, but I do just fine. My overall calmness without caffine definitely helps my shooting.
YUP, but that is why I have a "P" jug at every hunting stand.

I know, Me too Ken,
I was just curious how many people notice a difference in their shooting. This thread is quickly becoming non trad bowhunting.

Nuff said
I love coffee and it's very good for you too. I switched to organic a while back and I noticed I didn't get the coffee headaches if I missed my cup in the am or pm. As far as the taste of the organic, it tastes even better to me.

If I drink too much I'll get kind of a jittery numb feeling. Doesn't help my shooting at all.
Makes it hard to feel the shot.
I'm sure how much is too much depends on the person.

Me too Rich.
I thought I had a kidney stone once turned out I passed a coffee bean. :coffee:
Years ago I used to get the "jerks" or double clutches after too much coffee. Once I started shooting with a countdown and a mantra it doesn't matter if I've had too much coffee or tequella, I'm still on. LOL!!!

Charlie,
This thread has inspired me to have two more cups this morning. I've gotten a bit more done this morning than usual. Hopefully I can keep it up when I get home. I have a lot of chores I behind on.
If I get a chance to send some arrows down range when I get home, I'll post my results. At the rate I'm going now, I'll end up going down range to pull arrows before my arrows even get there. :knothead:
Nothing beats a cup of coffee while sitting in a turkey blind waiting for the sun to come up! I really look forward to that!
I'm with you guys, a pot in the morning, every morning, hunting or working, then off and on all day and sometimes at night. Love it! Having a cup now!
Nasty stuff. It'll stunt your growth.
Have never been able to aquire the taste.
I love coffee. However, it has the effect of clearing me out, so I avoid it before hunting.
During deer season I go with cold water for Sept. and October, and then switch when the temperature drops to apple cider.
Usually around mid October you can find the gallon jugs of apple cider. I heat that up in the microwave, put it in a thermos.
Hot and delicious apple cider warms the whole body in the deer stand, without the bowel effects.
Coffee...Nectar Of The Gods
Coffee and Copenhagen for this guy, and if it's a really bad day a 24oz can of Monster energy for grins and giggles.
before, sometimes during and after.....
Who can function in the morning without a cup or two of java. I like mine so thick you can stand a spoon straight up in the cup. Helps to shake off the affects of the night before.
Regards,
Rick [Grouse]
Rick, Sorry I didnt meet you at tolgate.
I drink a lot of coffee, I dont like to eat sludge with a spoon.
I bet I can pee out coffee into a cup and drink it again. :readit:
I'm interested in your findings Casey.
I cant function before I have at least 3 cups of Yuban. We keep a pot going all day and I generally have 4 or 5 cups before going to bed. Maybe that is part of the reason I shake like a palm tree in a hurricane...PR

I regret to inform you, but you have been misinformed.
Johnny Walker Blue...Nectar of the Gods :D
I cant shoot worth a crap after i drink anykind off caffeine
Does anybody use a French Press for making camp coffee? Report, pleaase on your impressions. Thanks, Dave. :wavey:
Ummm, OK, I see that the matter has already been brought up. :o BUT, just the same, any more comments about them?
Coffee is your buddy!
I love coffee...but it don't like me. :(
I have a cup of coffee now and then, but these days I'm primarily a tea drinker. Gotta have my pot of Earl Grey each morning.
I think that too much caffeine probably would interfere with my shooting. But a wee bit of Jameson is just fine. :D
QuoteI drink it then shoot my foam cup
me too .......
Dusty, I dont think the Gods can afford JW Blue anymore?
Well, I got home to late (dark) to shoot with my caffeine high. I spent the last bit of my buzz helping my dog chase his tail, and now Im going to bed. I gotta pace myself next time. I took in much more than I'm accustomed too. :knothead:
Thought you were going to tell us you shot the ceiling.
I guess being to strung out can affect shooting, It can prevent it :biglaugh:
Got's to have my coffee!! Jason
I just finished my last coffee of the day, I'm switching to beer. I dont shoot after I have beer! :readit:
I'm a dang fiend. I just assume a cup of coffee with everything I do. From can-see till can't-see, I drink coffee. That includes shooting and hunting. If I'm not drinking it, I have been recently. If it hurts my shooting, it isn't too bad. It does necessitate a pee bottle when hunting though.
Dusty Nethery, have you ever tried putting the Scotch in your coffee? Perhaps strange to some folks, but I like it.
I used to drink 12 to 15 cups of coffee a day when I worked with computers, but now I only drink 4 or 5.
I started drinking coffee regularly for breakfast at about age 18 months and never slowed down. I don't think it adversely affects my shooting or any other activities, but regular coffee now sometimes keeps me awake at night, so I drink decaf in the evenings.

True statement right there. Received a bottle for a wedding present, and should of put a nipple on the top as bad as I nursed it.
"Have you ever tried putting the Scotch in your coffee? Perhaps strange to some folks, but I like it."
Have with some cheaper stuff. My Gramps liked it that way. JW Blue in coffee would make it as expensive as that cat poop stuff.
I'm very untraditional with my coffee - just got a new Tassimo and love it!
Scotch and cofeee? I like my scotch straight up. Doesn't seem good or cheap for mixing.
Dusty, got a bottle of Highland Park 18 I'm nursing.
Remember, every time you eat, you age, Every time you drink coffee, you age faster. Like I said, don't kill the messenger, it's a known fact try looking it up. When you have that hungry feeling your body is cleaning and repairing itself, eat and it stops ! Yes you need nourishment, the amount is questionable, don't forget, it takes up to 15-20 minutes for your stomach to let your brain know that it is full, that is a lot of food a person could eat in the time.
I love coffee, always have, The doc. don't want me drinking any but can't seem to kick that one cup a day, I have been trying with no luck.
What does this have to do with Trad Bowhunting?
Because the question is, Does drinking coffee affect your shooting? :D
I think this one slides into trad bowhunting right with the grits for breakfast. It really is a part of bowhunting preparation.
