After just getting into traditional archery just about a year ago and shooting compounds for 30 yrs. ive decieded to take off the training wheels and go traditional for good. Much more of a challenge, don't get me wrong i still love shooting the wheel bow but nothing better than traditional. :archer2:
It sure is addictive.
Scott.
I was addicted the first time i hit the target at 20 yrds.
It`s all about the fun. Take the path that leads to the most fun.
I`m guessing the bow in your hand means you have learned where the most fun is, but you have ALWAYS been "traditional".
 :D :archer2:
Just wish i would have found it years ago.
Next week will be my 1st full year of trad, the first time i shot my friends Big River longbow i was hooked and decided right then and there i was done with the wheels. So i sold all 3 of the wheelie bows i had and have never looked back. Hey 30point, i see your from Kansas-BIG BUCK COUNTRY, i have heard stories and would really like to find out first hand about those Big Bucks within the next couple years , i hope some day, i just keep Dreaming.
I like it.
Good for you!
It's great to be able to choose and to change isn't it! You gotta admit it is addicting and very fulfilling. Better later than never. I'm happy for you and the years of enjoyment that lie ahead.
I did the same thing but a little over 2 years ago, got tired of the gadgets & wanted some challenge & fun.
Welcome brother my you enjoy each day.
I also notice you are also a Zona owner, I have #24 T/D.
Been trad only for almost 3 years straight now. Will never go back to wheels. Never shot aerials nor stumps nor fish with the wheelie. Never even entered my mind. Now I do all three and have much more fun!
Nothing wrong w/cmpnds. Shoot the most fun. Trad is challenging for sure.
Best thing i ever did was sell my wheel bows. Now im hooked and my son loves it also.Congrats
I just completely jumped the fence myself. It is way more satisfying in my opinion. Only one more wheelie to sell and I will be completely free of the gadgetry.
I'm in the same boat. Been going for 1 year 1 month and 15 days now. Nothing better.

Sounds like that was a New Year resolution. :D
Same here! No intentions of going back. :)
just started shooting traditional last year and cant believe the instant addiction. wheels put away for good i think
i love it. i try to shoot my compound every now and then, but get bored and grab my long bow after a few shots. just bought a new bow in the classified on here and that will be my hunter if i like it. cant freaking wait for that to come.
think im going to brinf the long bow and compound in the tree next year. under 20 yds long bow over compound. im not ready to give up compounds for hunting just yet.
I got the bug about a year ago also, its so cool made 2 bows now thinking of a dozen more, learning to make arrows, bow string, knapping points, ect ect ect.and you can learn it all here, thats just great!have fun and welcome to the trad.

Thank You my friend, i have it ordered right now, i just can't wait to get it. Hope they shoot as good as they look.
I have one wheel bow left, I was going to sell it but my nephew has been begging me for it for a year now. He just left for ARMY Boot camp. I think when he gets back i'll give it to him. It's a Mathews Monster, he loves that bow.
Yep, no going back now.
A big part of "Trad" archery is archers helping archers! :clapper:
Made the switch about..7 years ago. Never regreted one bit! I'll never go back! Love it! Jason
Im not looking back.
Hi, my name is Josh and I'm a tradaholic...
Seriously though I haven't been able to save up enough to switch back to a good ol' stickbow (who knows why I wanted wheels :goldtooth:
Congratulations My Friend!! :goldtooth:

I think when my nephew come's back from military training, the only compound bow i have left, is his. He's been wanting it for awhile. Wish i had given it to him before he inlisted. :)
Yep I decided to go all trad after an elk hunt with my buddys in Idaho. On the drive back I sold my brand new bow to one of the guys for half price and never picked one up again.
Now look what I'm doing. LOL
Mike
After starting with a longbow in the '60's and shooting a recurve until compounds came along, I tried the compound for a decade, until a house fire wiped the slate clean. I bought a longbow from Dan Quillian in '88 after the fire, and haven't owned a compound since.
I still love the compounds and probably always will. I've been shooting them for so long and loved it. I feel the same with the traditional equip. and am going to atay with it forgood. To me it dosen't really matter what a person shoots, as long as he or she has fun doing it.
Trad shooting is a journey, not a destination. It's what makes it special.
Well said creekwood.

My Zona is the smoothest drawing & shooting bow I've ever owned & for the weight is very deceiving because it feels lighter than it really is.
I also am waiting on my personal second from Bill but was very happy to get Erin's around Christmas time.
Thank You Eugene, i saw the pict of your's and was actuall considering that one Beautiful Bow,
Bill is a great guy talk to, Very nice guy, So im sure the wait will be worth it.

I'd just mailed mine off !A compound that was sitting in my closet ,It took me two years to sell that thing ,
I went back and forth with compound (And I don't know why ) To traditional, I have a shoulder injury, Thought it was rotator cuff ,But the Dr. Diagnosed it as arthritis ,He said that's good because it's more workable .
I had Chad Holm make me a really low poundage 36# And that has helped out my shoulder quite a bit . But as I boxed up my compound today to sell it, You look at all this stuff on it ,And you just can't imagine any more once you pick up the traditional bow and hit your mark. It just doesn't get any simpler .
And a specially as you get older ,Your eyes get bad .You need bifocals ,And you're trying to line up a circle with a stick and a dot.
That's what one compound'er at the range said to me "I liked the way you just put the arrow on the bow draw and shoot "
And then he said " But what are you aiming with "
My answer
"My brain Tells my arm where to put the arrow"
His reaction
"I Gotta get me one of those "
It's not about hitting the mark ,It's how hard the market you "
Traditional is great
Carl
Its definately the best i have ever done got tired of the damn gadgets then ya shoot something with the pulley puller then its like ahh okay no big deal then i went strictly traditional 3 yrs ago and wont go back i have got one doe and a turkey so far and the kills were far better than bucks i have on the wall 100'-130"class ITS AN OBSESSION TO ME!!!!
We don't have the monster bucks where I live, too many 10 - 20 acre woods that get pounded by the gun hunters and wipe everything out each year. Our doe population is crazy though.
I too have found it more satisfying taking a doe with the longbow than a small or average buck with a wheelie bow.
Dan
Me too. Im not a trophy hunter, i just try and keep my freezer filled throught the year, so buck doe it dosen't matter. im lucky if i see a monster buck.
