Ever had one of those crappy days at work when it's a grease fire and you're the only one that can put it out? Well owning my own business and being an eat-up bowhunter can sometimes compete with each other. It's usually during September when I slip off to go elk hunting or November here in IL when bucks are chasin' with their tongues out...but today started out crappy with nothin' to hunt in site and was broken up at mid-day with a package sitting by my desk when I came back. Says, Stalker Recurves. Wonder what it is :)

I had been jonesing for one of South's longbows since KZoo. I shot them and the grip felt right. I placed an order and was ready to wait the short/long six weeks. I got the itch to go hog hunting after watching my Glory Hogs II dvd, did some checking with my local Tradganger brothers and planned a hunt in Arkansas a few weeks away. I called South and bugged him with a ton more questions and asked if I could just buy one of those stock bows he had. Well, he had one just for me, the riser of the one that I had shot at Kzoo and limbs from a bow he had missed weight on. I jumped on it right quick. I was stunned when I opened the box at the woods. I can't wait to shoot it. Problem is, it is so nice to look at I am going to have a hard time dragging it around on a hog hunt :) See for yourself!

I had a few patients to see, and it was a hard sell not to run into the rooms with my new bow and glare at it as I was doing my exams. My folks are used to seeing the thousand yard stare in turkey season when the birds are gobbling and I am working :) They are not used to a mid-Feb wander...So I couldn't help myself and showed the bow to a couple of elderly fellas that I knew had shot longbows in Howard Hill's heyday. We had talked about it many times and I enjoyed listening to them especially in times when I knew I would not be seeing any game for awhile (like now). But today is a different day, spring is a comin', I got a new bow to hunt hogs with and some birds that I know are beginning to strut. I am spoiled rotten and thankful my wife (and patients) put up with such wonder-lust ;)

Added a Kanati 4 arrow quiver and antler bolts. Shooting some hickory footed fir shafts as quiet as a church mouse. Can't wait to give it a go on something other than stumps and targets :)

Nice looking bow! It probably won't be any easier to work for the next couple of days knowing it is waiting to be shot. And just because you'll shoot it after work today, won't make tomorrow any easier.

Looks great Mike. Will look even better with some blood on it. Is that waterfall bubinga on the back? Maybe it is called bubinga pommelle? What is the veneer on the belly. South is building my "UGLY" Bushwacker T/D longbow. Can't wait to get that one either. Congrats Bro!
-
What a beauty Mike! I fondled those TD longbows at Kazoo, but was afraid for my wallet to even take one to shoot. Not sure how much longer I can resist that urge...

Thanks again fellas! Yes Mike bubinga on the back and rosewood on the belly. It has snakewood and bubinga in the handle. I shot it tonight and a heavy overspined carbon with 300 gr up front flies like a dart. Hope to make some bacon soon :)

Roland will be there in March. Got a little hog hunt planned in Feb...look forward to seeing you there in March!

Here are some pics of the Kanati quiver and bolts. They match up nicely and actually make the already quiet bow whisper quiet...I think this is gonna be awwwrite...

Hey Mike,
Thanks for posting the last set of pics. It just made waiting for mine 100 times worse. I guess that's what friends are for! :p
Those limb bolts match that bow perfectly. Nice touch bro!
-
Mike very nice,
South is building a specail bow for me as well.Very easy bowyer to work with and the best kept secret IMO.
-
Very appealing design.
Congrats!
-
Ryan, what are friends for :) Sent the pics to South to show off the bow and quiver together. I have never been a bow on the quiver guy but after finding out how quiet this bow is I am now a fan!
-
Great looking bow. I have the same Kanati quiver (same colors too on a bubinga t/d firefly) and you're right, the quiver really does make the bow quieter.
-
That is a very nice looking bow.
-
Mike, that bow is awsome. Hope to see it in person one of these days. Give them hogs heck for me and enjoy the new bow.
