Nice camo!! I am a fan or Predator Deception and I can see the Kuiu pattern is a dandy. This is premium hunting wear. Can't wait to read TG'ers experience with it...
Curt, where can I buy this stuff?
I think that a pair of those are going elk hunting this fall with me.
Looking forward to the release!
Nice! i am a wool dude but i cant wear wool early season. i like that camo and i like the solid gray too.
Curt how would you compare these pants' materials with the Sitka traverse and 90% pants? Are they sort of in between as far as toughness or thickness of the fabric?
Tony, Youu only be able to buy it directly from KUIU...check out the blog for more info bud.
Randy, Tim, Pete, I have no doubt you're gonna luv these pants
Sharpie, The traverse pants are an under layer...
If you mean the difference between Ascent and 90%...then more compareable to the Ascent......BUT.......A far superior fabric!
Even though they are more durable ...they are lighter, better stretch, and fit.
Don't get me wrong fellas, most of you guys know I've been wearing Sitka exclusive for 4 yrs before this winter. They have great clothing...
But from my time wearing and testing KUIU I have been extremely impressed! That's why my hunting closets right now are empty waiting to be filled back up with KUIU products
Where can you order it?

I asked the same question...I went through the blog twice...no link...just reviews...Dang good stuff!
I dunno, just googled it and come up with a dead website. Says "spring of 2011" Maybe not for sale yet, eh?

Yep, that's what I meant.
Carlton, just so you know my birthday is next month and I wear an xl. Gray makes my eyes stand out. Just so you know bud. :readit:
Izzy, I was thinking more of a Vermont teddy bear.
Curt,
I cannot find a sizing feature on the website. The Ascent pant is only offered up to a 40" waist size??? What about us larger fellows,LOL. Are we gonna be left out?
I'm with the other Randy. Gotta get some of this stuff before spring Bear me-thinks.
Love the selling direct. Capitalism at its finest. :clapper:
Nice camo pattern. It looks like a variant of what I wore in the Gulf in 2003 / 2004.
Camo looks like it will perform well color wise out west or up north in tree stand but looks like it will stick out bad in the southern woods. Do they have any plans for a any other colors in same pattern for us southern hunters? I think the pattern is great but the color shades could be better for our hunting.
Danny, The "Attack" pant will only be sized up to a 40" waist for now. There will be a full scale sizing chart in a up coming blog update.
Will, I doubt you'd "stick out" in the southern woods at all. "Camo" is about contrast, breaking up the human outline, and "confusing" the eyesight of our quarry. KUIU does this as well as any pattern out there and way better than most.
Your woods down there aren't much different than where I hunt up here in the early season.
I have no doubt in my mind that KUIU Vias will be outstanding both early and late season...north or south...east or west.
I am with Will on this one. I would have to see real pics to prove this. No doubt a fine product, but the camo is way to light for early bow or spring turkey down here. I am interested in seeing this in maybe more seasonal colors. Looks like it fits great though.
Isn't there some kind of affiliation with Sitka in this whole thing. Did they sell Sitka to the Chicoms all together or something??
From what I have read this is a different company from Sitka I think one of the sitka guys split. From what I can tell they are much more concerned with customers and making them happy for example there pricing structure is the best I have ever seen. They seem to be a genuine company that is trying to give us the best gear they can without gouging us with high prices. In a way taking care of the people that take care of them making everybody a winner. The kind of company that will def get my business just would like to see some color options.
I think Goretex bought Sitka.
KUIU, I sure hope you guys make a pant with a 32" or longer inseam for us guys with a 32" or less waist. A 31" inseam is a bad joke imo.
Screamin, This is directly from the review...
"The Attack Pant is available in KUIU's Vias Camouflage and Charcoal Grey at the wholesale price of only $139.99 at kuiu.com. This pant would retail for $249.99. The Attack Pant is available in 32, 34, 36, 38 & 40″ waist sizes with a 35″ inseam and a 1″ cuff you may let out if you need to extend the pant to a 35 3/4″" inseam."
For shorter guys like me, thanks to the clean simple design with no un-needed leg zippers, these pants are easily hemmed up to the length we need them at.
Like Jason says, it's easy to loose some material, but it's awful tough to add it.
Guru, outstanding! Thanks
Can't blame anyone for not posting a picture on this site, but I'd like to see the camo pattern.

Bowmania, click on the link at the first post on this thread. Theres a great pic as well as a lot of other info on the gear.
O.K. Curt I am a shorter guy like you. Most pants I have bought with long inseam also have a long crotch which hangs too low.29/30" inseam fits much better than a 34" inseam in any other pants I have tried.Only asking b/c I really like these pants but don't want to spend that kind of money and have a baggy crotch.Kip
Kip, great question. In spite of my long legs I also like a shorter crotch so the pants ride on my hips, not around my navel when pulled up.
Jason Hairston, who is the founder and CEO of Kuiu, was also the founder and CEO of Sitka Gear. He sold out of Sitka Gear to start a new company where he could maintain creative and quality control and operate under his new business model that includes only direct sales to customers without the added costs and difficulties of maintaining a wholesale and retail distribution chain. There are many advantages to Jason's new business model, including better gear at a lower price. The disadvantages? None, except for the people in the distribution chain who have been eliminated from selling Kuiu products!
I have met Jason on a couple of occasions, and he is the real thing! I have a lot of Sitka Gear, I will probably keep most of it and just add the Kuiu stuff. I saw the fabrics and the prototype pack frame at the Reno Safari Club convention and they are better than anything similar offered by the competition. From what I have seen and read, Jason will also have the best designs and the best construction, based on the philosophy of creating what works best in the field rather than what looks best on the store shelves and racks. My only concern is that I will buy too much as an early adopter and then have Jason make some great changes or additions in response to comments from users (Jason listens to his customers!!!). When that happens I may wish I had waited a little longer for the updated version. Fortunately for me, Kuiu will offer some of the more basic items in its first production runs and then add more in the future, so I will be somewhat protected from myself. The primary additional piece of clothing I want now that Jason will not be offering until later is pants made with the fabric used in the guide vest and jacket. I'm sure the guide pants will be coming out before too long -- hopefully by late season this year.
The Kuiu camo will be fantastic for most uses, like camo patterns such as ASAT, Predator and Winona, but for dark green, fairly solid backgrounds Kuiu probably is not the ideal pattern, nor will it be too good for spring turkey hunting because the birds see colors and you need to match the color of your background. No camo pattern will work well in every condition, including Kuiu. In all fairness, Kuiu clothing is made specifically for mountain hunting, so it may be a bit of a compromise in some other environments, although I live in Oklahoma and think the camo pattern will be great for 80% or more of my hunting situations. I plan on getting some solid colors and using the camo more sparingly, like in the guide vest and the head cover, so my outline will be broken up, but I can wear the clothing to and from the hunt without looking too camoed up and sticking out like a sore thumb. And no one is saying that you can't use other brands of clothing in conjunction with the Kuiu stuff. I know I will.

Thanx Iz...
Well i loaded up on the Sitka gear and have to say I like all of it. If they put the same design and R&D into it I'm sure it'll be topself stuff. I guess change is good that's why I'm on my tenth wife!!!

Kip, I have about a 31" inseam and the proto-type Attack pants I wore while hunting fit great, no saggy crotch at all. I believe you'll be just fine.
Truly impressive clothing. Only when you get the chance to actually see it, feel it, and wear it will you all appreciate the extreme effort Jason has put forth to bring us all the best ultra light hunting clothing and gear availible!
Hey Curt, Do you know if his rainwear is going to be packable,(compactable down to a small, say coke can size)? When I first went on his website a few weeks ago there was a list of products, now I can't seem to find it...Thanks, T

Curt is the pant "comparable" in toughness to the Mountain Pant? I get the DWR part.....

Interesting marketing approach... the advertising campaign reminds me of what Simms Fishing Products has been doing the last couple years (similar format, colors, text, and desire to be viewed as "hardcore").
The attack pants sound great to me, but I think that some of the comments here show why they will remain a niche item... they are designed to be a "mountain pant" and the majority of the market wants insulated, dark camo pattern treestand gear.
For my location and style of hunting though, I'm psyched to have another good soft shell out there. I hope it is truly as quiet as they say it is! And I'm glad the pants come in gray!
Curt,
Is here any chance we can order the pants to length? It normally costs me $20 and takes two weeks to get my pants shortened, and more often then not, the legs are different lengths.
Curt,
Are they coming in only one size in regards to the inseam? I ask because I have a 29" inseam and the normal 32" inseam is just too long. It does look like awesome clothing!
Dave
Walt, Not sure if it was finalized, but there was some talk of a hemming service availible. I'll check into it bud.
Dave, The pants are being sold un-hemmed at 35", that way the consumer came hem to their own length.
Like I said above, might be a hemming service availible...
Won't be long now fellas!
