I picked up some pine boards and poplar dowels at Lowes today. Very simple but functional bow rack. I think the whole thing was probably less than $10.00.

Very nice but simple Jim...for us non carpentry types...what did you drill the holes out with for the dowels?
I like that one, mind if I copy it?
Uh-oh. I notice that you stil have a few pegs not being used. I'm thinking you might want to order a few new bows soon to make that rack look complete.
:D
very nice!!
Razorsharptokill, That looks good, you don't mind if I copy it do ya?
Yeah, I was going to say, there are a few empty stalls there!
That is nice and simple. I need to do that very thing for my 3 sons' longbows.
Looks great !
Very cool...I think you just solved my problem.
Pegs are to short,,,,,only holds one bow...LOL! :biglaugh: Nice job!
The pegs are 7/16" and I used a drill press so they would be straight. Pegs are about 3 1/4" long and placed every 6". I mounted the boards with 1.5" screws counter sunk.
I left room for expansion of course. Like when they widen a street? I always think, "Now why didnt they just make it this wide 10 years ago?"
I knew there would eventually be more bows filling those slots.
Copy away guys.
Very nice job. Thanks for your service to our country.
Looks really good Jim! You gonna make OJAM this year?
OkKeith
Nice rack
Nice idea. May use that one also.
Nice rack! I tried the exact same thing last summer but I didn't have a drill press. Needless to say mine didn't quite turn out as nice and it found its way to my fire pit.
Good Job
That's what I'll be splurging on very soon!

Really effective, room for a lot of bows.
Never told a man he had a nice rack?
Please turn that selfbow over to store it!!!!
You are welcome 30point. Yes I hope to make it to OJAM this year too!
I really like that. I think I will make one just like it. Thanks
Looks good, I'll have to copy that also.
Very nice, I did the same thing here on my wall in Spain, hope i can get some pics up soon! Only difference is the 2X4 was a dark stained piece on sale, but because I drilled the holes to match my arrows, i use my broken arrows in dark stain as pegs, match perfect! Another tip is you can buy a roll of sticky sided felt and cut into strips to put onto the arrow pegs, gentle on your bows and holds them better!

X2!

Another idea
I went for cushioning the bows by using 1/2 inch dowels for the pegs and then cutting a piece of foam pipe insulation to slip over the peg. Not fancy, but is very quick and effective. Keeps from scracthing/rubbing the bow finish where it sits on the peg every time.
What is a safe way to lay them on the pegs?Belly down? Back down? side ways? Strung or unstrung? I plan on making one of these and don't want to lay them the wrong way and possibly warp a limb. What would be the best way? Thanks in advance.
Depends on what type of bow it is. You'll notice my all wood bows are unstrung. I belive most modern glass bows it is ok to leave strung(in a mild temp). Belly up or down, doesnt matter I believe.
This design could also be mounted horizontally and bows hung from it vertically. Not all my bows stay strung so I went for the horizontal.
I like that Boznarras, might try that with my next one, running out of space!! He he
Simple and functional. Love it!

Yep I did the same thing with some red oak and dowels. Its full so I may need another before long. Two of the bows are my sons.
