Some of you may remember Casey here. He lost his father last year. He just turned 8.

Last night I am hanging out with the family and the phone rings, the caller ID shows it's the wife's best friend so I give her the phone she hands it back to me. Tells me it is Casey and he wants to talk to me. Kasey likes to "be funny" so he says this is the President calling. He goes through this elaborate story and says he needs me to be his body guard for an upcoming function. After we get done talking I am pretty confused but laughing. His mother comes on the phone and tells me they have a parents/grand parents day this Thursday at his school. It is a lunch and little presentation ceremony the kids have for the parent/adult that has had a positive impact on their young lives and he has asked if I'll be his guest for the day. I was more than a little blown away. Last thing he asked me before he said goodbye is if he and his sister could come shoot bows with me and Jake during winter vacation.
Amazing the impact some time with a little stick and string can have on a kid.

It's a feeling we can all share Joe. I bet everyone has a "Casey or McKenzie" with in spitting distance of them that would appreciate someone to take them out to shoot in the backyard. I mean we're going to shoot anyways so there should be room for one more don't you think?

Haha..crazy kids. :jumper:
Went to the lunch today and was introduced as the bow hunting teacher by Casey. A lot of kids asked questions about it and over half were girls(McKenzie goes to this school too and told them about 3D shooting). Looks like some seeds were planted today and I got a good lunch in the deal too. lol
Now that you know he is following you, give good leadership.
God Bless,
Nathan
I always seem to get stuff in my eyes when I read posts like these.
Either that or I have weak eyes and they just water when I've read too much.
I am so very proud for you David.
Thank you for your leadership here and thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many of our young folks.

I like it... I like it a lot!
We have influence on others that we don't eeeven realize.
Great story.. I had something similar when my grand daughter was in 3rd grade...
The kids, with family members who were veterans, invited them to school with no appearant explaination... I thought I was going to one of the familar singing concerts they put on...
I was blow away to be invited to the stage where I was included with other vets being recognized by all of the students and teachers in the school...
Yes they did all sing to us... 'The National Anthem' and 'America the Beautiful'... What a lump I felt over that.. First time in my life and I'm sure others up on that stage, may have ever been recognized in public for serving in the Armed Forces..
Kids, and their wonderful un-expected actions do make you feel great. I'm happy that this young boy, who's life you obviously have an great impact on, has chosen to honor you in such a manner. :wavey:
