Title: Can the weight be reduced on a Dwyer longbow?
Post by: slayer1 on February 07, 2011, 05:01:00 PM
I have a 64" Dwyer longbow. This is the D shaped original longbow, can the weight be reduced? The bow is currently 58lbs I would like to get it down to 53 or 54 lbs. If this can be done can someone explain the process? Thanks for the help!

I'm sure Dave could do it for you.  4-5# is about max reduction on most bows, though some will take them down further. Weight can be removed by sanding back, belly and/or sides of the limbs.  Which depends on limb cross section profile, glass thickness, etc.  Not difficult to do, but need to know what you're doing or you could screw it up.  Good luck.
