Title: Thank You Bill Dunn *****Now with Pictures******
Post by: LongStick64 on February 05, 2011, 08:13:00 PM
When I saw Bill's post about the new Hunter Zipper, I was sold. I buy bows usually for one purpose, bowhunting. And I'll be the first to say that I usually shy away from pretty bows. I like them plain and simple. And usually from what I seen coming from Bill's hands are pure gorgeous. So when he decided to make a dressed down version of his beautiful bows, to say I jumped would be too easy to say.
After a few messages back and forth, I sent my money order and waited. Well it was a short wait and I finally got a chance today to put it together and admire it. Safe to say I'm completely gassed about this bow. If I had the skills Bill has, this would be exactly what I would want to be able to make.
The Dymalux riser is much nicer than what I thought, actually has a wood grain look, and the riser is light. The grip is perfect, I love the way it feels, real comfortable and gives you that right on point feeling. The limbs draw as smooth as butter. I usually shoot around 50lbs but these limbs are rated 44@28. Bill offered to make limbs at my target weight but 44 is plenty of these Long Island Whitetails.
Most importantly, dealing with Bill was an extreme pleasure. Bill you may need to change your slogan about shooting an ugly bow, because this ugly duckling is a princess to me.
Guys I know you want to see pics, coming up tomorrow I promise.

Love the riser

Been a Zipper bow fan for several years now. My first Zipper was a plain jane model that Bill had discounted at Compton's. I bought that bow and now own 2 more of the "fancy" wood models. I just recevied my Zipper armguard today. Looks great, can't wait to show it off tomorrow. The Hunter model does shoot very well and is a great value. Good for you!

I am a Zipper fan as well.  After getting my SXT I was sold on Bills design.  He is a top notch buy as well and he has made me a customer for life.

I picked up a used Zipper at Denton Hill last summer. Sent it to Bill to change the grip and to refinish the riser. Quick turn around and an excellent job. I now have 2 sets of limbs one recurve and one longbow at the same poundage. This has become my travel bow for trips. Put it in a old Bob Lee case.....riser-both sets of limbs extra strings and I'm go to go. Bill does nice work and has a great product!

Man I'm looking hard at that new Hunter model myself. My kinda bow, high end design and performance with tough, utilitarian materials.
Can't lose.

Bill's standards are so high that also the plain Jane model is a boomer.

Cacciatore

Spot on with that. Most people will be very pleased with his plain Jane. Very very impressed so far.

I'm glad you are enjoying your new bow!I am realy likeing the textured finish on these Hunter models.I'm considering putting it on all our bows.It seems like it should not get so polished and slick after alot of shooting.

Dont forget if you have some luck hunting with it this year.We would love to post your success pictures on our website.Makes no differance if it is a big buck or a yearling doe.If you are happy to shoot it,we are happy to post it!

Thanks Bill I will try my best. I wasn't really thinking about turkey season, now I pumped to go.

The finish is perfect, very satin, flat, like it's not even there.

And I'm especially pleased how well it is tolerating all of my shafts from wood to carbon to aluminum, the Hunter loves them all. Me Too,

Nice bow.  I like the look of the solid wood riser.   What wood?

Sorry guys but I've been a Steeler fan for a long long time.

It is a Dymalux riser, in my opinion much nicer than dymondwood. I've heard it smells bad when it's being sanded down, but it is real light and seems plenty tough.
