Mud my Robin Hood came today. When you offered it to me I had my doubts that you would have enough material for this size "8" Melon of mine    :)    You said you did and had a bucket for a form.....Well it worked    :)

I watched the Robin Hood movie and let me tell everyone who has a hat how to attach the feathers.

Cut two small slits in the hat and weave the feather in and out.

It'll stay put then.

They are everywhere...the actual number is unknown  but I suspect they number in the thousands...

They are difficult to recognize tho - except when they are wearing the "magic hat"

I remember shipping to Hawaii and The Netherlands too.

You just never know where they'll show up!

Most of them have gone out as the result of the giveaways but sometimes the urge hits and some unsuspecting tradgang member will go to the mail box one day and find that they have been picked to join the hairy horde in the spirit of "Robin Hood" and Sherwood Forest.

Steve I'm still looking for a picture of the one I made after seeing what Jeff did.

It turned out great but requires a higher quality and a little heavier leather.

If I can run down a picture of it, I'll get it up.

I must have done something while addressing it because it never showed up at it's intended address. I ended up making and sending out a second hat to the winner of that drawing.

I do love the hats for sure. Just curious which one is Friar Tuck,little John, Robin, Will Scarlet and Killie needs one so she can be maid Marion.They do do civil War re-enactments now why not Robin Hood.Mudd if you made a whole outfit(fleece pants can't imagine you guys in tights) that would be the cats meow!

I just make them out of whatever leather I can come up with Snag.

They can be laced, sewn, or glued together.

The one on the last picture was laced up. Laced is a little more work than sewn but glue is the fastest and easiest way to make them.

Roy and Kip,

Try this one on for size. This is my 120# at 28" English Longbow. I put on my Robin Hood hat to draw it. I needed the Hat's Mojo and to channel my inner Robin Hood and Howard Hill.

I have only put about 24 arrows thru it as of today. My draw is 27 1/2 but I think this got me down to 26" (Those arrows are 34" Flight Arrows). In a few weeks, I think it will be a lot easier to get to full draw.

Welcome aboard my friend. I also wear a size 8 (25" around) and my hat has made it fom Texas to Broadway in NYC. Great conversation piece. If we could ever get Mudd's "Merry Men" together we could have one heck of a lot of fun around the campfire. Maybe Mudd should put together a reunion hunt and have us all down to the swamps of MO.  :thumbsup:

Simply lay the hat out flat on a piece of cardboard, trace around it. That's exactly how I made my pattern from the original.

I'm going to try some wool to make one.(thanks to a tradgang member whose name isn't jumping into my mind at the moment)

I think canvas or denim would make a good also but I haven't tried any yet.

I had some leather that was really soft and pliable that I made a couple from and I didn't like them as much.

The material used needs to have a little backbone to it.

I got a few miles on it over the weekend. Like I said, my club is Sherwood Forest Bowmen so I had to have one. I think there will be a few more out there pretty soon. I got a lot of comments on it. Some were even compliments.

Mudd – Great job on the Robin Hood hat.

This earth tone hat is my favorite of those previously depicted.

Just might be a complement to the attire worn at 3D’s represent, in good humor, yet still exudes the sincere regard for the traditional.

Just might also serve to further substantiate the perception that I march to the beat of a different drum. A phrase mentioned often in the past. The perception may also be exacerbated since I have no rhythm. Their perception may in fact be on the ‘mark’.

Looks to be fourty four in the band Matt but I think Wilson showed up four times. He just kept changing his hat thinkin no body would notice          :nono:

Mudd sent me my hat this week.  I'm supposed to shoot with a couple of TGrs tomorrow and will hopefully have photos of me sporting my new hat from Mudd while loosing arrows  :)

Bisch borrow one of their hats long enough to trace it onto a piece of cardboard.

Cut out the cardboard and mark each side so you know which is which. Then trace out each side onto your hat material, cut out the material.

Put the two halves together and glue, sew or lace the two sides together and you're done.

Really enjoyed it and as always....Mudd's hats make the day.  

Matt planned this out well with everything from aerial targets, to varying distance shoots at 1.5" clay discs, to "Hey Green....shoot an arrow up in the air and let me see if I can catch it"....lol.

Must be nice to shoot out doors and wear T shirts. A group (5) got together yesterday and shot a 3d course out side, 11F to 15F.

A bit brisk to say the least lol. It wasn't a regular 3d shoot just us getting together to have fun. Come on up and join us.
