I just bought my first longbow. I am new to the sport. Looking for help on arrow suggestions. I have a leon stewart bow 45# 64"@ 28 draw. Someone recommended to try Carbon Tech Whitetail carbon shafts. My arrows lenth is 29 inches. I seen some people shoot these shafts around the same poundage i shoot, with a 175 grain field point. The specs on the shaft is 6.9 grain per inch. Not sure if this is to lite for my set up. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
I would say not too light for the bow. Depending upon your fletching, insert, etc., you are probably in the neighborhood or 9-10gpi. Depending upon what you intend to hunt (if at all) you may end up changing you arrows to something with a little little more gpi. At this point since you're new to trad, I would say it's more important for you to get your form down and focus on those aspects first. This is a great time of year to make the switch. Good luck!
