I'm in the process of gathering info on Cascade shortie recurve. I think I'm going to go with the Golden Hawk Magnum in a 52" 55 to 60# LEFT HANDED OF COURSE!!!(all the greats shoot left handed) :) I have a question on limbs... Osage or Yew???? is there a performance difference? is there a weight difference? pros and cons???
Thanks for your input and comments...
No notable difference in weight or perfomance.
In a longbow I would say Yew but on a recurve that short it wont matter, buy what looks the best to you, they will both perform great.
I find yew to be a little smoother and just a bit quieter then osage.
Lefty, I have 2 Night Hawks, 60# & 65# and a Whitetail Hawk 65# in 56" and cannot see much difference in performance between osage, yew, or red elm in the bows or how quiet they shoot. You can't go wrong with one of Steve's bows, been wanting a Golden Hawk mag myself! Possum H is right IMO and most bowyers I've talked with say the same its just looks and personal pref if under clear glass !
Ask Steve, and I bet he suggests yew. Besides, a bow coming from the NW should have yew, right?
I have a 56inch Whitetail Hawk with yew limbs and I love it!!!
