Title: Chuck Adams Arrow Holster
Post by: Hopewell Tom on February 01, 2011, 12:50:00 PM
Anyone have/use one? I'm looking at a used one. 10 arrows. I like lots of arrows, but wonder if it might be a bit unwieldy/heavy on the hip.

Tom,

I have one and don't ever use it anymore.  Mine was one of his original hip quivers and I think it holds 8 arrows but it could be 10.  I found it to be too heavy and the bottom needed to be strapped to you leg.  Just didn't care for it.  I ended up making my own that held just 3 arrows and was light as a feather and could easily be slid to my back.  That has also been retired in favor of an Arrow Master side quiver.

I had and used one in my dark days many years ago, that was all I used.I thought it was an excellent quiver, you could put it on and off your belt without taking your belt off.You don't have to load a quiver to it full capacity,I always carried a couple judo point arrows for practiced along with my broadheads.

I would think ya could get it and turn it into a kind of plains quiver real easy..much more comfortable and easier on and off..Just an idea.

Not sure if it is the same thing but I have an 8 arrow hip quiver from Trautman's Outdoor Creations that is a lot like the Adam's Holster.  It always seemed to get caught on brush and I felt like I was "flagging" when I walked.  Usually carried 6 broadheads and a couple blunts/judo points.  Best thing about it was that it had velcro on the belt attachment so you could take it off easily when I got to stand.  Never really felt comfortable with it and eventually quit using it altogether.

I have two that are very similar but nylon. I use them with a shoulder strap and carry it under my arm like you would a Lakota stle or one of Freds GFAs. I have looked at a few of the Adams arrow holsters to pick one up, but alot of them are pretty beat up.

I used one back in the mid 90s.  While its not the holy grail of quivers - i know cause i think i have tried them all and still find something lacking from all of them - i thought it was a pretty good quiver.  I often wish i still had it.

Pete,

I've been looking for one for some time.  If you no longer have a need for one, I would be interested.

Thanks for the input. Another quiver. The one I have a line on is supposed to be excellent in condition. I'll think about it some more.

it really is a personal choice, for my part I tried it one season and did'nt like it 'cause leaves, branches and dirt would accumulate in the bottom, once attach to the leg I did'nt like the feeling when kneeing or crouching.I would use it only on the field for target shooting.Just my point of view.
