Title: Black Max limbs- Excell riser
Post by: PASSTHRU2 on February 01, 2011, 05:19:00 AM
I want to use Black Max limbs on an Excell riser.  If I get the short limbs @45lbs how much weight adjustment will I have?  How much noticeable difference between the Black Max Cabons and wood limbs?  Thanks

I had the same setup. You will LOOSE weight due to the riser being longer, but you will have#3-#5 adjustment. The #45 limbs will loose an pound per inch over 19", so if your riser is 25", you will have a #39 bow, cranked all the way down, you might get to #44-#45. This is the reason I went to a Titan riser, sold the excel, best money I ever spent. And you will love those Black Max limbs, especiallyl the carbons, best limb out there for the money, or twice the money. Sam.

I have the wood Black Max on my Excel. I can't compare them to the carbon. The woods are really smooth compared to any of my other bows. The weight is a little issue. The chart about loosing and gaining with the riser length did not work with mine but it's not the charts fault. I wanted mine to be 35# on the 23" riser so I had the good folks at Lancaster measure me a set. Turns out the limbs I got are marked 35# and measure 35# on the 23" riser backed out all the way. On a bow scale they measure 35# backed out and close to 40# tightened all the way. The only thing I can figure is the limbs are a little heavier than marked but it worked out for me.
