Post by: ozy clint on February 01, 2011, 03:58:00 AM
i have an article that i would like to submit to a bowhunting mag. i sent 2 articles to TBM and one got accepted but the other got rejected because they had already run a few water buffulo stories.
are there any other mags over there that accept freelance contributions? will it pay for the story?

thanks for the help guys.

You can try "Bowhunter", "Bow and Arrow", "Bowhuntiung World" and Petersen's Bowhunting".

I'm sure there are more. This is all I can think of right now.

Just want to thank Tom for the great spring issue of Trad Archers World magazine. The cover photo by Marvin Clyncke was great and I enjoyed the photo's of the Kalamazoo Expo. The whitetail deer story by Dale Klug was great reading. Keep up the good work.

Clint,

These things happen all the time. I have a few articles on my computer that fell victim to bad timing on my part. Either TBM had too many similar ones in the pipeline, or after I completed it I saw a similar piece elsewhere and decided to shelf mine for a while.

As far as suggestions on where to submit your piece that TBM wasn't able to use, I'd suggest Bowhunter Magazine first. They pay well, and only buy one-time rights, which means you are free to use it later if you wish. And most importantly, as with TBM, I've never had to worry about opening their magazine and seeing something with my name on it that looked nothing like what I sent them.
