I found a decent deal on some Ben Pearson vintage fiberglass arrows with 120 grn. Super Hilbre broadheads new in box. Are these safe for hunting with? It's rated for 45-49# and my bow is 45#. Any expereince with them?
Fiberglass is a good arrow. Quite straight and good weight for their size. There is a tendency for the insert to split the shaft if it hits something hard like a rock. Same thing happens to carbon, of course, though carbon is a little tougher. Don't think much of Hilbre heads. Bulky, plastic ferrule. Probably better to replace those.
They are my preferred hunting shafts. I would replace those Hilbre heads. I got a bunch of old arrows with them on them, the heads screwed off. The heads make great blunts if you pry the metal cutting edge off. Bill
