Nice. You are braver than I. Been snowshoeing a lot, just don't trust stumping and being able to find the arrows until spring.
ummmmm yeah about arrow finding, Charlie would you please tell the gang what is going on here???? looks to me like a kitty doing his bussiness in the box eh????

Thanks for posting Ken, I have been a member of this camp for well over 30 years. It was established in 1922 by some fellas from Amsterdam N.Y. Used for hunting ,Fishing, hiking and snowmobiling for many years. Not a lot of deer but right on the edge of some true wilderness in the Adirondacks. You have a chance to see Bear, fisher deer and now moose. Not a bad place to spend some time.
Cool camp and great pics, thanks for sharing.
hey Charlie do ya need help finding that arrow???

ok then!
Looks like a great way to spend the day!
the 3 of us by :The Lonesome Pine" a HUGE pine tree that Ron uses as a point of reference.

Cool pics Ken, so how many arrows did you guy's loose?
No arrows were lost....a nock popped off and a judo stuck in a stump, but that's it. With Charlie willing to dig up half the woods looking we'll never lose an arrow...lol :biglaugh:
Don't lay that bow down!
Looks like great fun!
Martin
No actual stumps were hurt in the making of this thread!
hey Ron how old do you think that pine is and how old was the one you were talking about that was harvested not far from there years ago? i do not think most people realize how old and rich in tradition that area is pertaning to "wild" wilderness.
Looks like a great time was had. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Looks awesome.
The last time that area was logged was the turn of the century. The camp it's self was purchased from a Civil War veteran named Jeb Hayes. That tree is "well over" 200 years old. Years ago they would leave a "Mother Pine" for seed when they logged an area.
Hey bro thanks for the pics looks like ya had fun but way to coooooold for me Bro :campfire: :campfire: :biglaugh: i love the warmth
That's a pretty cool history, being a civil war veteren's camp. Where is the camp? Looks like a nice area.
Very cool guys.
I love massive trees like that.I always wonder who's been underneath them and to see what the tree has seen in it's time on the earth.Neat stuff.
Hey Jeff, we have had a warm spell up here. About 30 degrees f. Better than -16 degrees.

Hows that new stick treating you Charlie? I guess Ill ask you the same Ronny as Im sure you picked up a couple since last we spoke.
yup i recon ron
The camp is located on the edge of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness in Hamilton Co. Jeb Hayes actually farmed the land and tried to make a living on that patch of rock. The old timers said you had to boil a chicken a week to even eat them.....lol!
Nice area, but not for farming. I hunt about 15 miles north and west of Northville. In southern Hamilton County.

Photos came out good Ken....nice work!! Even for that itty bitty camera!!
Ken, that picture of me digging,
was that me demonstrating how to build a shelter or was that the time I was showing you how deer find acorns in the winter :readit:  :biglaugh:
I had a great time guys. Thanks Ron for taking us a long.
Izzy, The bow was as expected. Dreamy! I have yet to shoot a big River I do not like. I have nicknamed the Bow "Raven". It fits if you see it.
The picture of me digging is the first shot with a heavy tipped arrow. It zipped about 1.5 feet high over the stump.
Looks like fun, not sure I will be stump shooting in that kind of snow down here in Oklahoma :biglaugh:
People tell me that I live in paradise(only because they haven't been to the Adirondacks).
Very cool!
yes "Raven" fits that bow well bro considering the Raven that flew overhead named it ehh!! fitting name and a FINE bow.
Yes sir "God's Country" for sure!!!!!
Beautiful country guys!
Looks like fun! Nice "traditional" snowshoes also.
They were what I was given to use, not intentional.
Thanks for taking the pics Ken, they came out great.
Glad you guys had a good time....next time we'll have to bring some food to cook while sitting around to wood stove.......maybe Brats and fried onions and mushrooms and some hard rolls? :campfire: :goldtooth:
I have venison Brats! Is that an automatic invite?
just say when! would love to go up early and maybe try our luck at putting an arrow in a hare, i know its a bout a 1 in a million chance but hey that means we have a CHANCE!!! think i might carry the Slammer there next time if ya invite us up again, would be a great place to brake it in. i'll pack a thermos of coffee in with us too.
Excellent! Love your pics
We will have to do it again in the near future  :campfire: :coffee:
Sweet pics guys. Looks like loads of fun. Ive been trying to convince the boss that I need some snow shoes. Maybe this thread will help.
Get 2 pair and take her with you....lol!
I dont think that will work too well. She is just content sitting by the fire. I cant get her to leave the house with all the white stuff on the ground. Must be something about being born 90 miles south of Florida.
Great pics guys, looks to be an awesome time in the woods. Hope you didn't lose a lot of arrows. God Bless Don
Good stuff.
Love those "Grandmother" trees. Hereabouts they usually mark an old property line - especially the corners. There are a couple oaks and hemlocks nearby that are "originals" to when this area hadn't been harvested. If you ever get io California be sure to visit the redwood stands. Trees that big just numb the mind.
That looks like great fun Ken...
Here's the kind of snoeshoes you need in Michigan.. :D

I have wanted a set of Ojbway [spelling?] for years, they just have a classic look to them....plus I hear they work good!
Great pics guys. Thanks for sharing them
Great post Ken, I just broke my snowshoes out. I have about 30 ins left on the ground now, with another 5 coming tomorrow!
I was a bit surprised at the amount or lack of snow at camp...only about 2 foot. Most times this time of year it's to the bottom of the windows of the camp or about waist deep....more come'n in the next few days.....
Ken-every time I see a new post from you I know I am going to be jealous! Maybe not jealous about the temps!
