Title: T/D limb difference?
Post by: Daz on January 30, 2011, 12:32:00 PM
I've noticed a few different sets of T/D recurve limbs for sale where they specify right or left hand.

In my simple mind, would the limbs not fit both a l/h or r/h riser, or do bowyers do some kind of different offsets for the limb beds?

Often the limb is contoured into the sight window, making it specific to right or left hand risers.

If you are talking about Bear TD limbs, Predators, and I'm sure many others, they fit RH and LH risers.  However, many TD risers have different profiles for upper, lower, and RH and LH limbs. Two examples that aren't interchangeable right-left I have are Schafer and Widow.

In addition to the above mentioned, swapping upper and lower limbs usually has an affect on the tiller.

Oops, I see that you weren't asking about upper and lower limb swapping! Sorry 'bout that!   :knothead:        :banghead:    :dunno:

Also it seems like most Schafer Silvertip limbs are hand-fitted.  If you exchange them they may match perfectly or there may be a slight overlap. That's what I've noticed changing a few limbs.
