I'm working on one here too..... been dying wool like crazy. One for the spring woods, and one for the fall. Great winter project :-)
I made mine out of an old green colored trech coat and colored burlap.
Here's my kid putting it on as a halloween costume!

yea i plan on doin mine out of burlap. only thing im worried about is the smell. how bad does ur ghillies smell when dry and when wet?
steven
Wet ghillie isnt anything you would wear to the dinner table if I say so....it smells like i looks.
hmmmm...now where did I put my ghillie pic's??
HOW can you shoot a bow when you wear this shaggy camo? :saywhat:
I see too much potential for Murphy's Law to rise up and kill a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Have thought about this many times...maybe I will find some answers doing a search...
you can also check out guru's ghillie thread in the how-to forum. it's a good thing your starting now because they can take next to forever to make from scratch!! good luck!
If you do a search their are ALOT of info and pics on Ghillies. Heres my Shaggie Longcoat..

Ive cut the material on my left arm and chest down so it wont tangle in the string. Ok, it does take abit of the camo effect away but not much and i wont have to worry about it any more.
