At work last week I found a grey 70% Wool coat, I have no clue why it was tossed but it looks great problem is my wife thinks it's a womans coat because it has a center of back pleat but the zipper is oriented like all my mens coats opesite of my wifes & daughters coats.
I was thinking of using this for hunting next year but it looks pretty good, can any one give me some insight?

Who cares if it's pleated wear it and get some use out of it(take out the shoulder pads if it has them),If you find yourself plucking your eyebrows or filing your nails on stand get rid of the coat.
I've never heard the theorem that a center back pleat is a ladies coat. All it's for is to allow more arm movement. I found a nice 100% wool pea coat at the Goodwill store a few years back and the first thing my granddaughter said was "That's a woman's coat" Why I asked. She claims it's all in the way it's cut and looks. BS in my opinion. Anyway, if it fits and you like it, that's all that's needed.
If it fit, wear it and see if it's not too bulky
If the coat fits, wear it. I would be a bit concerned though, about that lining. It looks like it could be noisy.
Wear it... as long as it does not make your rear look big...
Yeah the lining does make a little noise but I haven't wore it around to see how much noise it does make.
As far as my rear looking big, well I think my Belly more than takes care of that area for balast. :biglaugh:
I have been in the apparell biz my whole life, ususally on a Womans garmment the zipper will be on the opposite side in most cases! If if it fits wear it!
I have a mens coat very similar to that, just pleated for more room, wearing bulky winter clothing. I would wear it hunting, and if any of the deer or other wildlife called it a"Sissy Coat" I would see if they thought a broadhead sticking through them was "Sisssy"!! LOL!!
I'd wear it.
The size should tell you if it's a man's or ladie's coat. i.e. size 44 vs. size 12
We ain't in no stickin' fashion contest. IF it doesn't bind when you draw your bow back. Wear it!
Bowmania
The pleat is a plus, and lets you draw your bow easier. It was probably designed by a bowhunter.
I worked in the industry for one of the oldest out door clothing companies in our country. That is a men's coat tailored for hunting. The zipper is on the correct side and you would never see a breast pocket like that one on a ladies coat. Almost nobody makes it this way anymore because it is too labor intensive.
So what makes a great hunting coat like the one you have?
The pleat in the back is there to help with your draw. Think arms out in front of me.
Under the arms you are gusseted. Think arms up over my head. Shooting at a tree rat.
The tabs on the side are to tighten your mid drift. Think stalk with out hanging up as much.
The slippery lining is there so it will move over your layers. Wool is sticky so you need a lining to allow unrestricted movement.
Wool is quiet and keeps you warm when wet.
What you have there is a great hunting garment for free. Now go hunting and wear the bottom hem out of it through brush chasing bunnies.
You are not seriously thinking about wearing that thing are you? Might as well turn in your man card.
Just send it to me and I'll make sure it is disposed of properly so no other men will be temped to wear it and look completely foolish.
Bill Tell I like how you think sir. ;)
As far as sizing goes it says that it's a XL but by just looking at it it looks like it'll fit me perfectly while hunting.
I have one of those. It is pretty warm. No complaints from me.
I can't believe someone tossed that coat. I guess they had no idea of what they were throwing away.
I have a wool coat that I wear around camp but it is too bulky for bowhunting. That one looks like it should do nicely.
Lucky guy.
