Ok , I have Antlers, I have a hack saw and belt sander,I have glue, I can get bolts, please anyone know how to make these, pics help! :) thanks a million- chuck
or sell me some! :)
Chaz, its real easy if you have access to a drill press and Forstner bits its even easier I've made lots.On the top I either carve a hoof print, inlet a Indian head penny but best is I inlet Elk Ivorys ,that looks good, honestly easy to do.If you want I'll send you some pics so you can post for everyone to see.I'm not swift on the computer thing.
Steve,
Can you post some pics of some you have made? They sound cool looking!
Charlie
Gen,I'll take some pics and send em to you to post,Don't know how to post LOL
In one of the back issues of Traditional Bowhunter mag they had a how too on making limb bolts with antlers.
Maybe someone can remember what issue.
Charles pics sent to you.
it would be cool to see a build along! i know it would have to be simple but never the case if i try doing a new project in the dark!lol
Down the road when I build some more I'll do a buil along and post
Steve--ok - i don't have a drill press- do you sell them ??
Chaz and Gen,Pics sent to both of you.
I guess i make mine a little different than most. i do not use limb bolts , i drill and tap the antler knob then i screw and epoxy in the same 5/16 bushing insert that they use on the riser limb pad then screw and epoxy a 5/16 allen screw 1 1/4 in. long into the bushing.will post pics when i get time.

I sent the pics to Chaz and Gen ,if they could post them that would be great .I'm illiterate when it comes to modern computer procedures ! LOL

Chaz
Search on the Acadian Woods Bow build along i did last year. As part of the build along i posted pics of Tim making the antler limb bolts. Its actually pretty easy. I've made a few pairs since learning from him.
Good luck.

You can go hardcore if you don't have a drill press. Use a vise to hold the burr with a cloth around it. Hold your drill with a 1/2 or 5/8s F bit as strait as possible and core it out about 3/8s down. Get some good epoxy and have at it. I've made a bunch for myself also.
