I can't wait
What He's not home yet..
Must be working late cant wait to see pics.
We waiting......?
Lol my favorite threads are the ones were we have a member waiting on a bow then he sends pics and thoughts of the unwrapping and the bow itself. Nothing gives you that warm fuzzy feeling like a brand new bow.
It's a "new to me" Jim Reynolds Thunderstick III. Really hoping this bow is as good as everyone says it is. Unfortunately it didn't come with a string so I have to wait to shoot it. It's my first custom bow. Can't wait to try it out.

thats beautiful, love the non glossy finish on that bow.
Good looking bow!!!
Sweet
Thanks guys. I thought it came with a string so I had planned on shooting it tonight. I'll have to wait until I buy a string to see how it shoots. Anyone know of any forum members who can make a good string? Anyone know if these are FF compatible? I checked out Jim's website but didn't see any mention of FF string compatibility. I assume that it is. This is killing me not being able to shoot it.
If you are disappointed I'll be much surprised.
Congratulations!!
God bless,Mudd
Very nice, you will not be let down.
Waiting for a bow to arrive is hard. Having the bow in hand and unable to shoot it is down right cruel. Hope you enjoy! Great looking bow.
Quite an attractive bow. Congrats!
Get in touch with "Oliverstacey", aka Josh Sowerby, in the Sponsor's Classifieds. He makes great bowstrings and will be able to fix you up quickly.
That is one beautiful Thunderstick, hope she shoots straight and true for you. They are awesome bows. God Bless Good luck Don
That is a good looking stick!
M O A B in my opinion, one of the better things in life!
Congrats on the Thunderstick.
You won't be disappointed. I've got a couple of Jim's bows and they shoot great. Congrats
Charlie
She's a beauty! I second Josh (Oliverstacy) for a great string, and fast.
Thanks everyone. I emailed a couple of forum members but in the mean time I found a local shop that has one in stock. It's less than a mile from work too.
No string = :banghead:
Mudd & LongbowBen, some of your posts about the MOAB's helped in my decision on one of Jim's bows. If this one shoots good, a Mag and MOAB will be on my list to try next.
Bought a string. Got home. Strung up the bow. Checked brace height. 8"???? Unstrung bow. Measured string. Apparently someone put a 58" string in a pack and labeled it as a 59" string.
:banghead:
Your welcome,You definitely want to try a MOAB.See you at the bunny hunt :campfire:
i got a 66"er coming before to long.if i dont like it it will be up for grabs.from what i read about them i think i'll like it though.
Yeah Ben, as long as I can find a string for it and get it tuned, I'll bring it along. Shouldn't be a problem, but I got a Grizzly that's hungry for some rabbits waiting in reserve.
Papa Bear, from what I hear most people do like them.
Anyone one know if the old 3" shorter string length adage works for the Thunderstick III's?
I've called around to almost all the archery shops I can think of and still can't find what I need. It seems as though most shops don't cater to trad shooters.
Don't tell Leatherneck, but I think I'm going to pick up one of these for the Bunny Hunt in February.

Dont worry he has one also
For anyone else with the question as to string length on a Thunderstick III, Jim said it needs a string about 2 inches shorter than the bow. And also that it likes Dynaflight 97 or TS-1.

Believe it or not I had this happen once and it was a TS III. Man was I disappointed when there was no string. :banghead: If I knew ahead of time I could have had a string waiting. Jim got me one right out so I was shooting in about 4 or 5 days. I think I needed it for the GLLI 2009. I think I got the stirng on and tuned fair two days before the shoot.
I picked up a cheap string while I'm waiting for one from the bowyer. Not too bad for guessing on the setup with no tuning whatsoever. Shot from about 15 yards.

Looks like you are getting the hang of her.How does she feel to you?
Looking good.
It felt good at first, but I think I twisted up the string too much. It started getting loud and I could feel some hand shock with it braced anything over 7". I'm going to wait until I get the string from Jim to do any tuning to it. It should get here any day. I could tell the difference in speed though. I was consistently hitting high due to the increase.
BTW, I also picked up one of those propane heaters. :campfire:
