Title: release and bow noise.......can't figure this out
Post by: stick flipper on January 24, 2011, 09:49:00 PM
I have been shooting 3 fingers under for a few months and have been noticing my longbow is considerable louder when I shoot 3 under as opposed to splint finger. Has anybody had this problem or is it just me? I like 3 under and feel I shoot better but I don't like the noise at all. My bottom limb is about a 1/4" stiffer at the fade out as the top limb is 1/4" weaker at the fade out. I feel maybe I am bending the bottom limb to much compared to the top limb and they don't release the same???? If that makes sense.

I shoot 3 under, and agree in most cases it is a little louder than split. With that being said I shoot a pretty high nock point 5/8" and my limbs are tillered for 3 under on my current bow and it is very quiet.

Check your nocking point is about all the advice I can suggest.

3 fingers under is very accurate and makes it easier to pull a bit more weight. It does however add a little noise factor which just come with the territory.

YEP! All my bows are louder 3 under. One in particular was so much louder when I switched to 3 under that I sold it. The Tall Tines I have now is the quietest......Ryan

like a adeeden says, iwould change your nock point, also try a variety of arrows, hexshaft are
pretty quiet, esp. the tapered shafts. check your braceheight also, little things sometimes help!

You might try moving your string silencers to another place on your string as well. Sometimes that will help.

With a 1/4" positive tiller I would expect your bow is designed for split fingers for best limb timing. Even tillered bows are designed for shooting three under. Sounds like limb timing is off. Perhaps finding the right hand position/grip will help.......Art

This may sound weird, but I put fur silencers on my Hill and it made a ton of noise. I switched back to rubber whiskers and it went away.Check your brace height.

Raise your nock and play around with your string silencers move them up and down or add another pair. I know if you fool around a bit you will find the sweet spot!! Good luck and have fun!

i had the same problem as well.I told it to Mike Fedora and he said i was putting to much pressure on my bottom two fingers, and to put most of the pressure on my first finger, a little on my second and as least as possible on my bottom. Guess what..no more noise, and much cleaner releases... Hope this helps
