Mass.just got 1 1/2' of snow and i just got my license last week. any tips or tricks for hunting in these conditions. I went roving about a week ago in 6" snow a saw nothing for tracks. Any help would be greatly appreciated folks. Much love and thanks again to all who help.
i think thats some pretty tough rabbit hunting when the snow is that deep, maybe a sunny mornning they might be up and out a little,..
Like arrow said. After a front passes especially if they've been holed up for a few days and the sun comes out they should too. Good luck!
first warmer sunny day after several nasty days
can be awesome
they will be out and active use still hunting tactics
HI Keith,
My experience with bunnies has been that, normally, they don't like adverse weather...especially new snow in large amounts. They are kinda like people. Following a fresh 6" snow I am not surprised you did not see a track.
When the weather warms up a bit, especially a sunny day or a warm (er) evening/night they'll be all over the place.
We've got about a foot and change on the ground up here.I seen day old bunny tracks just today.Just gotta get in the thick stuff and look.If you can walk easily through whatever you're in it's too open.
Like the others said I've had the best luck after a storm or on warm days in the 30's or 40's.
