Title: Osage/Yew Riser?
Post by: gobblegrunter on January 23, 2011, 07:47:00 PM
Has anyone ever seen these two woods used together in a riser? If so, anyone know where one might see some pics?

I never have ... possibly because Yew is light and soft, not real good qualities to put in a riser ... my opinion only.

Bob.

It seems like that might just be the answer. Even google images couldnt show me a pic of the combo. I did know that yew was soft, but figured that it had be used in a bow riser with osage SOMEWHERE in the world. Oh well. Thanks Bob.

Osage does change color "mellow" over time.

You might want to consider this when making a wood selection.
