Title: Stu Miller's calculator just cost me some serious coin
Post by: Rooselk on January 21, 2011, 09:57:00 PM
Yes, it's true. Using Stu Miller's Dynamic Spine Calculator just caused my bank account to take a serious hit. Here's how it all came about:

It seems that a couple of years ago I somehow found myself with 18 new Easton Legacy 2020 arrows. The only problem was that these arrows weren't correct for any bow that I owned. So today, finding myself with too much time on my hands, I fed the information about these arrows into Stu's program. After all was said and done it turned out that these arrows would be perfect for a bow that I have long considered adding to my arsenal. I then decided that it would be a darn shame to let these perfectly good arrows sit around gathering dust. And that's when I made the decision to order another one of Norm Johnson's Blacktail bows. Not sure if my wife will swallow my story, but I'm blaming this one on Stu Miller.

(And don't think that some of you other guys are off the hook for this caper. If it weren't for that myrtle limb thread I may have went with a less purdy option.)

:D

Roos, no matter what excuse I come up with, nothing can dull that Kahuna Eye the boss gives me when I tell her I ordered another bow!

Congrats, that Myrtle will look real good in one of Norms bows.      :clapper:

Thanks. I have one of Norm's longbows as well as one of his recurves. I love them both. For quite some time I've been giving serious consideration to adding another recurve at a little higher draw weight. Finally decided to just do it.

That's some serious bow buyer's math! Highly advanced calculus.

Interesting....most guys buy arrows to match a bow, not a bow to match arrows. They way you did it is probably more fun.  Enjoy it.

I hope you do not find a porch light that does not look right on your house, that could cost you a fortune.

I've got the same problem. Since I discovered the Calculator, I have turned into a bow collector. Now, I can turn any bow into a shooter. It used to be a lot easier to buy and hide guns from my wife.

I'm going to go down stairs and search for some arrows laying around that I don't have a bow for.  If I order neww one, I'm blaming you, Roo!

I like the way you think comrad! Took this one immediately to Ruth for approval. Soon as my eye opens back up I'm gonna go shoot what I already have in the bow stable "& be happy about it!"

I believe it's called thinking outside the box...the only downside of which is that my wife may want to actually stuff me in a box when she gets wind of what I've done.  :D

Jeff, here's the deal: The truth is that for quite some time I have been giving serious consideration to purchasing a new recurve about 5 pounds heavier in draw weight to the one I have now (primarily for elk). With this in mind I have been saving my pennies for the past couple of years. It is of course sheer coincidence that those arrows I have are a perfect fit for a bow I already had in mind.

Hello Roos,
Dude, I feel sooooooo bad for you that I will go out of my way and fix this problem by having the bow shipped directly to me!

Those are some of the sweetest bows out there, enjoy it to the fullest.

Timing is everything Roos. Saved the money, found the need to use the 2020's, ordered the bow to match shafts...PERFECTION! Love it when that happens. Norm's starting on mine this next month! I found some shafts that needed a bow shoot them also....   :biglaugh:
