Two months ago I bought a Pronghorn Longbow 62"52@28 it go to tournament that is all it was for :scared: , I want to get and another one but I have a Blacktail on order :banghead: , I am not one to hang Bows on the wall. I know that I am a Long bowman, I will call Norm tomorrow and tell him.
Recurves are like a smokin hot show girl, nice to look at and dream about. But longbows are like the wonderful dependable/best-friend wife who will be there through thick and thin. Wait til you get the HH bug, or shoot a GN critter gitter!
michaelschwister, Maybe I am just a ladies man but recurves are the smokin hot showgirl that goes home with me. Long bows are the most frustrating girl you will ever go out with that has bad habits.

once you figuer them out they are sweet and treat you wright :goldtooth:
Exactly the same thing happened to me..........I fought it for a while and then gave in-longbows just feel so much "freeer".
:archer2: :archer2: :archer2:
When were you suppose to receive your Blacktail? I hope soon! That way I can move up and get mine quicker! haha
What Michael said.
Jack
I have a robertson LB for sale if someone is in the market?
CA Bowhunter: The question is how do you figure them out?
Picked up a long bow many years ago and can't shooting anything else....Lord knows I've tried but just keep shooting longbows

I can shoot a bare carbon shaft all the way out to 50 Yards she shoots where I aim, I am still working on wood arrows for her but she and flat shoot carbons.
I started with longbows and now only shoot Hills. I have found a few recurves that shot well for me but, not consistent. Don't like the wide limbs that much.
I know the feeling. Grew up on curves from the late 60's up to a few years ago. Now its all LB's. Yea, I still have my curves, even killed a deer with my MA this year. Had pitty on her and took her to the stand one evening... wouldn't ya know... she got one.
All that aside the LB just seems to really set my mind and body in place. Can't explain it. They just do.
One mans prize is another mans garbage....
Must be the long stroke...
Know what you mean! Long bows just have that "intoxicating" effect on me too! :bigsmyl: I sold my 54# Thunderstick Mag a couple of months ago and DID NOT have another one as a back up. :banghead: Right now I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a Big Jim Buff. 62" @48# that I recently got from Kip. Can't wait to try her out! :archer2:
Pronghorns.
Betcha can't have just one. ;-)>
I'm like the old mountain man thats been stuck in the woods for a year," I love em all! Longbows, recurves ,short ,long to me their all so much fun and all have there own benefits.
I am still a lot like Steve and will shoot just about anything but my shop sees a whole lot less of anything but the long ones these days.
I have found that I can't say no to my Hills and Hill style bows when it comes time to shoot.
I had Nate put in an insert in my Bama Hunter so I could use a longbow when bow fishing season gets here but I'll hang onto the ole Bear recurve as a back up..lol
God bless,Mudd
I started with recurves and then got a Longbow.
I hated the longbow at first.
Then, magic! Now, I have one Recurve and a few Longbows.
Matt
Pronghorns will do that to you; I have a new one coming in April. I have 5 longbows, one longbow on the way and the Pronghorn coming in April, and one recurve, the other recurve that I bought about 2 weeks ago was traded for a longbow yesterday. At least I did not loose to much money this time.
The recurve I have that I do not shoot other than few times each year, but will not sell, is a 58 Kodiak that my father gave me in 1968. It was my first hunting bow, he bought it new in 58.
I see Recurves that I want all the time and I buy them then I sell them in a short order. I always give someone a good deal on them, so maybe it is my odd way of replenishing the used recurve bow supply.
I just plain love longbows.
I was strictly recurves, could never find a longbow I could shoot as well as my curves. Buy one, try it, sell it, buy one, try it, sell it. I was still drawn to the longbow and it's place in archery history. Tried the "D" bows, just not for me. Couldn't find one that felt natural for me until I stumbled on a Griffin. Now the longbow was feeling a little better to me. Follow up with a bunch of Griffins, Shrews, A&H ACS's, Kanatis, Treadways and Centaurs. The new generation of hybrid longbows out there are superb. I still have a few sweet shooting curves but I made the transition to longbows and I'll never go back. Just love that barely audible Thhhmmmmppp.

Well since you said "freeer" we're gonna have to stop comparing a longbow to a woman. ;)
Could compare it to that favorite pair of boxers... you know... the one with the "ventilation".
Before you call Norm you might want to see if someone wants to buy your spot on the list. I imagine he's got some serious waiting time. I see ads for it in the classifieds at times. That way you won't have to lose, or ask for a refund of the deposit.
I know what you mean about the Pronghorn, love mine too, and don't even open a thread about Big Jim's bows! Lol!
i would love to hear the conversation with norm. if you get a chance get a blacktail longbow with yew cores if you can find one.
I saw a beautiful Blacktail, New in box for sale on the auction site last night. I couldn't believe Snag hadn't bought it yet LOL.
