I was just talking to Jeff about these....
I love the the 160 glue-on's, but, would like the option to shoot a bigger version if I choose to at lighter skinned stuff like deer.
Anyway, Jeff said if there was enough interest in these 1 1/4" 250 gr., screw-in, non-vented bh's that they would make a run of 100 packs.
But since the cost of tool grade steel has risen, they'd be priced higher than the smaller versions...about $49 per 3 pk.
So lets hear it fellas...who else is like me and likes to shoot the big boys!!
Heck I'd like to see an even bigger version sold by VPA, I luv the silence of a non-vented head
Curt... I'd love a 1 1/4" VPA. I've recently switched back to aluminum and would only need 160gr.
Charlie, Don't think different weights would be an option.
I think it would just be 250gr. screw-in's...and non-vented I hope!!
What's up with the switch bud?
I shoot the 160 grain glue ons non vented. Absolutely love them!
Have been experiencing some strange misses with the carbons since I switched to them. My shooting has really settled down now that I'm back to beer can shafts.
I had the carbons tuned extremely well so that shouldn't have been it. Maybe I had just gotten stale.
Curt,
I'd be in on that one for 250 gr screw in (1 1/4).
Did you get anything in the mail yet?
Larry
Curt, I would commit to 1 Dozen. :wavey:
I use to get requests for them quite regular. That was before the word realy got out about them not being available any more.
Bill
Curt
Big Jim does a 1 1/2" VPA glue on in 250gr
as an option
I'd be interested in the 1 1/4" heads if they are priced like the other VPA's.
I really like the Big Jim heads, but the cost keeps me away.
Morning star hit it right there,,, would these be the same price,,,, but doesn't VPA make the big jim heads? and if they did go to 1 1/4 then its only fair that Big Jim then goes to 1 3/4" or 2" wide 300gr 3-blades...
I say bring back the biggies!
Com'on fellas, lets show them that there's a lot of us that like to shoot big'uns
I remember a thread not to long ago about VPA's and there were bunches beggin' for the older 1 1/4" heads :dunno:
There are a fair amount of guys who like the big heads but are not willing to pay extra for them.
These are American made quality construction and that's not cheap. I don't see many guys buying the 1 1/4 at $50 bucks but I'm shure there would be a few. I would purchase the 100 packs for resale, but I'm shure sales would be a little sluggish.
I have experienced a moderate response to the Big Jim Heads and I'm shure that is because of price and being new. I will continure to stock those because I love them and if I have to shoot every last one it's worth it me because they are devastating. I have taken 4 deer and 3 pigs so far this year with them and the increased blood trail is so obvious that I'm extatic.
I'm also a firm believer that the guys experiencing success with the 1 1/8" heads would continue to have success with the 1 1/2" heads.
Morning Star- As long as you don't loose them, they should last you an incredibly long time.
I have taken four deer, 1 big Hog, two smaller hogs and missed two coon and have shot many into the dirt before leaving the stand. All from a 82# bow and most with the same head. Still sharpen up great and spin perfect! ( not going to tell you how many more times I missed with them this year too)
Weather you buy the 1 1/8" heads or find some 1 1/4" heads or my BigJim 1 1/2" heads, they all spin true and are tougher than woodpecker lips. No vents to whistle, sharpen easy and fly like field tips---- yes, even the big ones fly like field tips.
Tajue17, the original design for the BigJim was 1 5/8" but couldn't keep them at 300g without venting. When I first started talking with VPA, I told them I wanted a 2" head but quickly realized it wasn't possible and keep the grains down to 300.
Bigjim
I bought one pack when they were available new. I liked them so much that I have horse traded for a few more. I would be interested in some more, since they are all I plan to shoot for a very long time. :)
I would be interested in some 1 1/4's
I second BigJim's as being incredibly tough, and easy to re-sharpen even after a head on shot on a granite slab that totally destroyed the carbon shaft
F-Manny
I've wanted some of the 1 1/4" in glue-on, but haven't found any. I talked to Jeff about them last summer, but even then, cost was an issue. Thought about doing it as a business move, but not too keen on sitting on a few grand worth of broadheads. It's only 1/16" of blade height.
Do they have the same factory angle as Suffers? Im gonna give 2 blades a rest for the rest of the year and on the hunt for a new 3 or 4 blade.

I would be a lot more willing with a glue on head. I've bent a few ferrules on the screw in version and would rather just have to replace the ferrule rather than throw away the head.
Greg, I would rather have a glue-on 1 1/4 as well then I can adjust with adapters....I think a 200gr. glue-on would be just the ticket!
I really can't see what difference the 1 1/4" would make over the 1 1/8".. If I felt I need a bigger head Big Jims 1 1/2" would be it, That is going to be one hard hole to plug... I have taken a few animals in my life and I can say 1/8" larger hole would not have made a difference on any of them.
Ihave to agree with Bob. I cant see 1/8" being that beneficial especially for the added cost. The 1 1/8 heads make plenty of blood and fly great.
Count me in! 175 gr or 250 gr screw in.
Bob... So why don't you shoot 1". Heck it's only an eighth inch. Or 7/8" or 1/2" or....
;)

I don't expect everyone to understand or think like I do...but I have my reasons :goldtooth:
Charlie ;)
Lets hear it fellas...how bout it?
Charlie, I can only get them in 1 1/8" and 1" would cost $$$$$$$. Curt, I do know what your saying and no one needs to know your reasons. We all have our little things that work for us.
If I felt I had to have a 1 1/4" VPA and not want to buy 300 of them I would get Big Jim to send me some and sand them down to 1 1/4" ,a dozen would last a long time, and hope enough guys decide they had have to have them. At that point maybe Big Jim and I can justify buying 300 heads between us for everybody.
I would only spend that kind of money on a glue on head, where I could have some adjustment thru different weight adapters. AND I could use it on my woodies too.
So a head I would buy would be, glue on, 175-200g, 1.25"
Eric

That would be great!
Bob... you know I was just messin with ya. Luv ya bud!!
These sound real nice. Would really be hard to put down a 160 Snuffer though. Would be nice for large size game like moose or elk. At least for me that is.
Charlie, I know. I hope my response was taken the same way. Things I write don't always come off the way I meant them to. Really I don't have a problem with 7/8" BH at my poundage that would be perfect. 1 1/8" has not been a problem, still getting 2 holes on game. The 1.5" at my pounds make me a little nervous at low pounds.
I talked with Jeff this morning and 100 pks of screw on and 100 pks of glue ons. Break even is a lot of heads..... Does this help :smileystooges: :deadhorse:

Bigjim
I can attest to all Jim says about the heads. I do all of my broadhead tuning with small feathers and Big Jim heads and they fly just like my field points even with the little feathers. They sharpen up real easy. Toughness, well I'm using the 250gr. glue-on with a 25gr. adapter and (the only time I ever missed :biglaugh: ) I dead centered my gun safe which is behind my rhinehart target. Out of a 53# bow a 570gr. arrow slammed into the safe and shattered the shaft and the nock came shooting back at me, well the head looked brand new except for the very tip of the pyramid was just ever so slightly blunted (I mean very minor) a few strokes with a file and it looks and shoots like brand new and spins true.
I haven't killed much with trad gear but I have quite a few bow kills under my belt and I am a firm believer in the larger diameter heads 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" on 3 blades and for a 2-blade 1 1/2" to 2+". JMO.
Ken
How do they measure the official width of a 3 blade head??
I've always assumed it was from point to point at the rear of the blades, is this correct?
So for reference a 160 Snuffer is 1.25" and an original Woodsman 125 is 1"
Eric
Westbrook,
I believe the way it's done is by circumferance, not blade to blade.
The 160 snuffers have always been advertised at 1.5".

Bob... cool!!
I would buy a few packs!!!
Bringing this up...
There were two fellas that sent me PM's recently that said they'd be good for at least 2 doz. a piece themselves...
Hope they see this and post...
Curt,
I'm one of the 2 that sent you a PM.
I am very interested in 2 1/2 doz (10 packs of 3 heads for the 250 gr 1 1/4" screw ins).
I hope there is enough interest as I am down to a handful myself.
Thanks,
Larry
I've got some..but I'd chip in for 1/2 dz.
Skyler and I are good for 1 dozen 250 screw in
Curt,
I guess I must be the second guy you refer to that is down for 2 dozen like Larry. I'd like to see 200 grain screw ins only because all of my arrows now have 50 grain inserts. But I can be flexible and 250 screw ins would not be out of the question.
Hope this helps to get the run made.
Jamie
Curt, I'd buy a dozen of them.
I will take 3 -4 packs
Yep, I'd be up for 1/2 dozen of those.
we're gettin' there guys
Curt,
You can put me in for a dozen. I have not tried the VPA's, but I was fortunate to buy quite a few 300 Xtreems while they were still available, and they are great heads.
Allan
Curt
I already commited to 1 1/2 doz somewhere else in the Pow Wow post's, but went and re-counted those on hand, I'm going to drop my request to an even dozen... At my age I think that will see me thru.
Gene :coffee:

Allan you'l love the VPA's they are Solid
I'll take a dozen at least Curt....if need to, 2 doz.
Thanx T!
Andy,
Are you using the VPA broadheads on the Asiatic buffalo?
Or do you need something different for animals that size?
Allan
Just curious - Are all the VPA Terminator Broadheads being made at this time 1-1/8" diameter, regrardless of weight?
Thanx
I'd be in for a dozen Curt, and 2 dozen if needed to get the order done...
I will take a dozen Curt
I'll try a dozen.
Write me down for a dozen -
Jason
I am in for a dozen.
Quick count about 16 dozen.
Were gettin there fellas!
Oh, Curt did you want any? :biglaugh:
Ok, a lot of people have posted there intent on purchasing some 1 1/4" terminator broadheads. It will take a commitment of at least 18 dz heads before I will order. I have spoke With Bob Morrison and he has decided not to purchase so I will be the only one buying at this time. If you truly want these, PM me with your information and how many heads you will committ too.
They will cost $49.99 for 3 heads. There will be no discount for 1 dz or 10 dz. These are being sold under the normal markup at this price and can only be done with the initial order.
They will be 250 g screw in. heads and available in about 3 weeks after I place the order.
thanks, bigjim
Ok Fellas...there ya have, Big Jim is coming thru for us
Guys, I have only been counting those that have made the effort to PM me. We are currently sitting at 8 doz. There are many more here who have expressed intent. Hopefully they come back to read this thread again. If you know them, let them know.
thanks, bigjim
I've never understood guys complaining about the cost of broadheads. There are hundreds of broadheads being made these days. None of the companys producing them are getting rich. If A guy was getting rich making broadheads...he would most likely be out of business due to the fact there are so many good ones out there. I mean how many broadheads do you really go through in a season? Most of them can be resharpened anyway. Sorry...but I just don't get the complaints. The VPA termintors are obviously a very fine head. If a certain head costs too much in your opinion...then just go with one of the HUNDREDS of lower cost ones. Otherwise...if you have a better broadhead design, that can be sold at a lower cost..then by all means do it!
I agree with Jon. I use knives that cost $25 and some that exceed $400. There's a price and quality range for everyone. I'm guessing it's easy to say "I'll take a dozen or two"...a little tougher to shuck out $200 to $400 when the time comes.
PM sent to BigJim and order in.
Com-on fellas :archer:
We are at 13 dz right now. need a few dz more.
thanks,bigjim
:readit: You dont get people to help you out like this to often
OK guys,
I stuck my neck out too. I ordered the steel today. It wasn't cheep.
We will start running them next week.

Special thanks to Big Jim as well!!
:notworthy:
Fellas...Big Jim has come thru again...there will also be 1 1/4" 200gr. glue-on's availible as well.
I know some guys were wanting a bigger size, but a glue-on....so here's your chance!
Get a hold of Big Jim
O.K. Ya got me now!!
Time to raid my copper pile again.
Eric
Most excellent about the glue on's!!! Have to wait until first of next month, but I'm gonna have some.
I'm sending them off to heat treat tomorrow.
Awwww right. Hopefully I got a bear in Manitoba that wants to take one of these in the wheelhouse :) Thanks Big Jim!!!
Was notified last night by email...these heads are in and ready to be paid for and shipped to those who ordered...
My 4 packs are in the mail to me now :wavey:
Yep, Big Jim called me and mine should be enroute today!
Same hear got the confirmation email 4 packs are on there way to SC.
Ok now it is time to follow thru and purchase the heads committed to, don't leave Big Jim out hanging.
Mine are bought and headed to IL for some turkies!
Sent him a PM - are they all done in one batch or do you get notified when your order is completed? Should have thought to ask when I sent him the message? :knothead:
Jason
Talked to Big Jim yesterday. Mine should be in the mail today. "Turkeys Look Out"
ttt, Big Jim has the heads available.
Anyone got there hands on em - post a pic maybe possibly?
J
Mine should be arriving soon. Paid for them the night before last.
ttt
Received! Thanks BigJim!!!!!!
I want to thank you guys for such a quick response to my notice. I still have quite a few heads left though. There are 1 1/4" 200g glue on heads available also.
BigJim
Anyone know the actual cutting diameter of the 1 1/4"s ? I know the 1 1/8s Are closer to 1".
Don, Check out this thread:
TG Thread (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=100034;p=1#000000)
I found them to be every bit of 1 & 1/4!!
Received my 250gr 1 1/4 screw-in VPA broadheads today from Big Jim. NICE. A few minutes on the Arkansas stone with one and ready to hunt. Will be shooting them tomorrow during daylight.
Don't miss out on this run of broadheads, who knows if they will be available again.
Thanks to Big Jim for taking care of us and to guru for getting this started.
A good example of what these bh's do...

These Vantage Point Archery(VPA) 1 1/4" heads are a great combination of size, penetration...and perfect, silent flight!
Com'on guys, don't miss out on this opportunity!
Thanx again to Big Jim!
OK Curt, you keep talking and you are going to convert me to a 3 blade man.I have been shooting two blades for a long time but had been eyeballing the regular terminators. These seem like just the ticket,I'm going to have to get some of the glue-ons.
Jim, I know you'd never regret it....these VPA's are a super BH.
Looking forward to using these 1 1/4"'ers for deer and turkeys, but I've been using the glue-on 160's for a couple years now for hogs, I luv'um!
They definitely are a high quality head.I have some big, flat diamond hones that I'm sure would be the ticket for sharpening them up.
Got my dozen in the mail yesterday. They look great and give me a total of 25 on hand.. Should be enough to last for some time....
They worked so well on my bear even with the bad liver hit that I made, that they will be my head of choice for a future bear, deer, and elk hunts.
Gene
Just got mine in today and they are awesome! Just got my arrows perfectly tuned to them and they are like lasers. Turkeys watch out! The standard size was awesome, these are even better
Got 1/2 dozen glue-on coming in the mail.
Eric
Got mine...turkies are gonna be in trouble :)
Was going to get the 1 1/4 glue ons but went with 6 of the the big 250 gr instead. WOW!!!!! The same size as a 160 Snuffer but way more heavy duty. Going to be my "GO TO" heads once I get everything retuned.
