Heading down to see CK in a couple weeks,an was wondering hows it's been going so far,I think there's been a couple groups since the first of the year..It's been awful quiet this year compared to last year...
No one
I'm pretty sure there's been a couple groups there this year, probably Tradgangers....
I talked to CK just the other day and he indicated that the hunts were very good. He was anticipating going back to west Texas for the next series of hunts.
I got that impression the last time I talked to him in Nov.I kinda figure there's not going to be too many more hunts at this ranch....

What makes You say that?
CK was saying he wanted to get some ranches a little closer to home,If I'm not mistaken I think he said the ranch we're hunting is about 4 hrs from his home or something like that.
I know He has some that are closer to His home. I do know that drive is a long one and more so when Your truck is loaded with everything and some gear that hunters have sent to Him ahead of time to be in camp when they get there..
Since I wouldn't be able to make My hunt in Feb with CK, I'm hoping We can do a Turkey hunt this Spring..
Hunted with Curtis a couple weeks ago. I believe he has to drive about 6 hours from his house to the ranch. I sure hope he continues to hunt this ranch! It is the best Texas ranch I have been to for javelina, hogs, and coyotes. Here is a picture from January 1.

Congrats, whats the name of the ranch he's hunting.
It is a massive ranch about 15 miles west of Crane, TX. I believe it is called the Gloria Looney Ranch. A local rancher raises cattle on the ranch and the animals don't see much hunting pressure.
Nice Javi Mark,Was there a lot of animals seen or killed ???
I was there after the new year and saw some hogs the last evening hunt. They nearly trampled me.
Someone incamp shot a 50# javelina! It was a giant javelina and Larry Surtees on here got a shot at another monster Javie the last night.
Wvtradbow, we saw fewer javelina this year but more hogs and coyotes. There was three of us in our group - two of us got shots at javelina, two got shots a hogs, and all of us got shots a coyotes. I have never seen so many coyotes.
I should have killed two javelina but a big ole snuffer found a mesquite limb in route. My son shot a javelina one afternoon and after tracking it for a ways and getting close to the herd, we decided to back out til morning. This would have been a good move but the next morning all we found is what the coyotes left.
The animals were there but may be a little wiser than last year.
Here is a couple pics from our trip with Curtis a few weeks ago.
This is the javie that that chopx2 mentioned above...

My daughter got a shot at a hog the first day. Seen javies one other day and heard lots of coyotes. This was our first trip to hunt TX so we did not know what to expect. We hope to make it back down again sometime.

Thanks for the pics guys.Me an another buddy was there last year, but we have 4 different friends going with us this year an everyone one was asking how things were going an we didn't have much to tell them since I haven't talked to CK since Nov..
I have spoken to Curtis sevral times recently between his trips to the ranch. He says javelina numbers are way up from last year and hogs are roaming the ranch. The cold weather has killed off the greenery and patterns will change for the better.
Texas Sweat is scheduled for Feb so we are gearing up.
That sounds encouraging,I'm really getting fired up...
I'm headed out Thursday, looks like some arctic weather on the way. Anyone been lately, any news?
